    THE L WING Chapter 177

     

    Narration of First Lady Tina-Kennard Porter

     

    I am increasingly beginning to love more and more being in Virginia – it feels like OUR home. As soon as we got married Bette encouraged me to make whatever changes I wanted to the house which I have with regard to the colour scheme. It now feels a warmer house and the new curtains and sofa’s have made it cosy for both of us. It was important to me that Bette would feel that it was somewhere she could relax in. That has worked so well that she is talking about this being our weekend retreat – the place we head to after lunch on a Friday and only return after breakfast on Monday. I guess we are both “nesting” at the moment – seeing the baby on the sonogram has made it all so much more real.

     

     

    Tonight is going to be an important one – my parents plus Lucy as well as Melvin, Kit and Leigh all as our guests. Leigh is coming across from Maggie’s house just after 8 – my parents are expected in ten minutes – it’s now 5:20pm. Bette is in her study working and I have been discussing the dinner menu with the caterers. I am just about to go and have a quick shower when the door bell sounds and I move to answer it. It’s my parents – both looking well. In fact dad has never looked better since his knee was fixed.

     

    “Darling “ my mother greets me as dad brings up the rear with their bags.

     

    “Hey mom – hey dad “

     

    “Hey Tina “

     

    “Where’s the pest? “

     

    “Stopped in the little town to get something or other – I have no idea – you know what your sister is like “

    “I do – come in “

    “Tina – you look well “mom looks me up and down. I touch my stomach -I have grown a little since they last saw me

     

    “The baby is showing “dad beams in pride

     

    “Yes – the baby is starting to grow “I still have not told them that they will be having a grand-daughter yet – that is the next thing to do – before dinner.

    4. I am not sure about Leigh being gay, but I do think lisa may be feeling a little jelous. Tina spoke so highly of Leigh and since she is Bette’ little sister Tina will fell she is hers too so lisa will feel left out.

    15. I am glad that Lucy, Bette and Tina are talking again and becoming somewhat close. Also it was about time that Bette and Tina gotten themselves laid! What a beautiful and sweet chapter! PPS

    16. Just wondering if your reference to the skanky flip flops that Bette was wearing is due to the quote by JB on the August 2007 cover of Diva magazine? On the cover JB says “I couldn’t be butch, I love shoes too much!” The mag is just coming out today (July 6th, I think). Excellent chapter, good detail and substance. PPS.

    17. So that whole sex scene took place in a window? I bet the secret service detail was a bit distracted from their duties. I wonder if some CIA spook was recording it for posterity.
