    “Bette! “

    “Hey Tom, Emma “she greets both of them with a hug and comes across and sits beside me and kisses me softly on the cheek “You okay? “

     

    “Dad is thinking about getting a manager in for his business and even more shocking mom is thinking of selling up “

     

    “Must be something in the air – dad’s going to start cutting back on his hours as well . What are you both planning to do with your free time? “

    “Well Tom would like a long holiday before our grandchild is born “

     

    Bette grins – the baby has been great already in bringing all of us closer. I put my hand on Bette’s hand and we look at each other

     

    “Funny you should mention your grandchild “ I say

     

    “Is everything alright? “Dad is going to be the really worrying grandparent

     

    “Everything is fine Tom – I am looking after Tina – well I am when she lets me but – the baby is doing well and so is your daughter – I am a nervous wreck but that’s alright – I am just the baby’s other mommy “

     

    “Ah – poor mommy B “I tease

     

    “Its really easy for the fath – eh – the other parent to feel left out of things – Tina ! “ its funny to hear my mother scolding me for not including Bette in the pregnancy. It’s also a great sign that they have built a relationship.

     

    “Bette -is as usual making a meal of things – she is a nervous wreck because she is reading every pregnancy website she can find and is asking the doctors about illnesses that ever they haven’t heard of – but she is being a very attentive wife and I love her very much “ I kiss her again and whisper “You should tell them “

     

     

    Bette gets up and gets the sonogram picture from her case which is on the table at the side of the room

     

    “Tom, Emma – meet your grand-daughter “

     

    Dad takes the picture and they stare at it – I see the tears in his eyes and in hers. God when was the last time they both cried? I stand up and Bette puts her arms round me

    4. I am not sure about Leigh being gay, but I do think lisa may be feeling a little jelous. Tina spoke so highly of Leigh and since she is Bette’ little sister Tina will fell she is hers too so lisa will feel left out.

    15. I am glad that Lucy, Bette and Tina are talking again and becoming somewhat close. Also it was about time that Bette and Tina gotten themselves laid! What a beautiful and sweet chapter! PPS

    16. Just wondering if your reference to the skanky flip flops that Bette was wearing is due to the quote by JB on the August 2007 cover of Diva magazine? On the cover JB says “I couldn’t be butch, I love shoes too much!” The mag is just coming out today (July 6th, I think). Excellent chapter, good detail and substance. PPS.

    17. So that whole sex scene took place in a window? I bet the secret service detail was a bit distracted from their duties. I wonder if some CIA spook was recording it for posterity.
