Chapter 222
Narration of First Lady Tina Kennard Porter
After Bette goes back to work I wash up the plates and cups we have used and I check on Ella – her temperature – while it has gone down compared to what it was before – is still higher than usual. I fall asleep and doze for about 80 minutes. When I wake up I am considering doing some paperwork when the phone rings – its Kit sounding pretty upset – I tell her to come up to the Residence – the two of us need to clear the air. I am not going to let Bette feel so bad about this -I do it I need to protect my wife.
She arrives looking like she hasn’t slept- which Bette hasn’t either
“How are you “ I ask
“Not good – you don’t that good either “
“Ella’s sick “
“Oh no – is it serious ?”
“She’s just got a temperature – she’s not been her usual sunny little self- Bette and I were awake most of the night with her “
I sit down and look at Kit – she’s been really hurt by this -but so has Bette and as much as I love Kit – Bette is everything to me.
“This is a mess Tina “
“I know – you blowing a fuse like that and resigning didn’t help “
“Well – what am I supposed to do – this business with the soldiers – I know someone who has influence with the rebel leader – I might be the only person in the States who can help this situation – why the hell she went in all guns damn well blazing – it was inevitable “
“She did what she did for the best reasons – the fact that its gone wrong is something else”
“It could have been avoided “
“That’s actually not the point any longer is it -the fact is that its happened – we now have to deal with it – correction- Bette has to deal with it – whatever you think of her at the moment – its all on her shoulders and nothing that anyone can say can make her feel worse than she does right now “

That a good way to calm Bette down. You can,t win any fight with angry. You can,t start fighting the people that you trust and love the mostand expert to do the best job possible. Bette seems to be angry with everyone except Tina and the baby. So,if Kit can help, let her Listen to Shane.and get the lost souls homeand the other home. thanks
Great update. I think Kit is right, they are in for a long fued. I can’t see either of them backing down.
Really felt Bette’s anger come through in this chapter! I cringed myself when she went off on Kit. Surely the next chappy will be you letting us see Tina unleash her secret powers on Bette, right??? PPS
Seems we haven’t seen the worst of the sisters act. Kit should have know better than to get on Bette like that, she knows her sister too well. This is a great chapter, keeps the mind running on what is up next. PPS :)
Stubborn Porter’s! Kit made things so much worse than they had to be just to try and prove a point she didn’t have. I love the family times that calm Bette’s temper and soothe her soul. I am so addicted to this story!
What makes your writing so good is that I not only care about Tina and Bette et al, but now you’ve got me anxious to see what Bette will do to try and save the soldiers and the aid workers! Well done! Thanks!
I know and understand that why Bette is mad at Kit and Melvin, but as POTUS she has to seperate her Bussiness and personal life. She needs to accept any and all of the help that she can muster to successfully resolve theis crisis. This includes setting aside her grudge or bad feelings for both Shane and Kit. She can always frued with Kit in private later. At this rate this frued may go public and that is NOT what she needs, now or later.
Bette needs a crash course in work and personal life management 101. She can never seperate her feelings when anything involving her family comes up. She was the same with Tina and now she is letting her feud with Kit spill into her presidency. I really enjoy this story but Bette seems to have blinders when it comes to Tina. She holds Tina in such high regards, I almost feel like she is parted the Red Sea with Moses and walks on water. Tina is a tad too self righteous! I can understand Bette’s pain at losing her mom and having everything she grew up believing debunked, but she needs to deal with that and stop taking her anger out on Kit and Shane. She cannot run a country by herself and she is looking to alienate everyone around her EXCEPT Tina and Ella!

awww hell, if I was Ella’s mommies I would’ve had the doctors in at the 1st sniffle. How come T’s so calm??? as 4 Kit and Bette; B has a right to be super angry about Kit’s role and Melvin’s; and the secret they kept all those years was becuz they damn well know they’re guilty.
