THE L WING — CHAPTER 39
Narration of President Bette Porter
Dinner is going slowly – Im sitting at the top of the table with Tina to my left and my father to my right. Kit is beside Melvin – the first course is soup and none of us talk very much — Tina is beyond nervous, dad is being formal, Kit and I keep exchanging glances. I so want this to be right – for Tina to be accepted by my family as a part of my life.
After the steward clears the starter I look around the table. Tina is pale – I take hold of her hand and we exchange looks . I realise how that its means a hell of a lot to her that he likes her – that he accepts her as my partner. She looks so lovely tonight – there is something innocent about her face. As a child she could have been caught with the axe beside the felled cherry tree and been forgiven anything. She must have looked like a cherub with her blonde hair, amazingly rosy cheeks and gorgeous smile. I gaze at her and cannot decide what it is that I would pick as the part of her face that I am most in love with. Her smile melts me and her eyes beguile me and her whole being is one that I am beginning to accept as that of my soul mate.
I saw you in court one day Mr Porter she says softly.
Oh have I mentioned her voice ? Angels sound like Ozzy Osbourne with a bad throat after a bad night in comparison to my Tina.
He looks up and smiles When was that ?
I worked in London for the BBC at the time and I was a crime reporter – you defended a young man accused of murdering a Policeman
You worked in London dad ? Kit says
Yes my dear — for six months — I have tremendous regard for the English justice system – much less confrontational than our system. I had a very good time and I met some very pretty girls

That was awesome. Melvin accepting Tina and loving that she makes his Elizabeth happy. That was great. Melvin tamed by Tina…that was cute. Bette was so proud…she was standing tall by her woman. :-) Thanks for the update…looking forward to the next chapter.

Yes! Excellent! Tina won over Melvin and Melvin even suggested that Tina stay the nigh to Be w/ his daughter since she makes her so happy. I can’t wait to read your next chapter later today. Wonderful job on this story so far. You are quite a prolific author on this website and have provided much fiction that I enjoy…..however I am bothered a bit by a statement Tina made to Melvin in this chapter….America is actually a Republic, not a Democracy.
