    The Letter ch. 33

“Ladies, so good to see you both.  I was hoping that Joe would be able to make it but he’s off after another possible lead. I can tell you everything that we know though and we can go from there. Can I get either of you anything?”

I know that she was being polite but her not getting right to the point was about to make Bette’s head explode. I took her hand and rubbed it softly as I spoke to Joyce. “Thanks, but we’re both ok. What have you and the investigator discovered and is it helpful to Bette?” Bette squeezed my hand and we waited as Joyce shuffled through some papers.

“This is a little confusing and we’re still piecing it together so if you have any questions just stop and ask me. Ok…Trish and her mother share the same name. Her father has a criminal record but it was sealed and we weren’t able to get the information until Thursday. He was arrested for insurance fraud. He was arrested but he pled to a lesser charge, paid a fine and went on his way.”

“Trish never told me that her father was ever arrested.”

“She probably didn’t know. It was after she had moved here and they had disowned her. He took some policies out on people without their knowledge and lied on the paperwork. When one of the people died and he tried to claim the insurance, someone looked into it and he was later charged.”

“So this whole thing is about money?” I incredulously asked.

“Yes. A lot of money actually. Like I said, Trish and her mom shared the same name although Trish was always Trish and her mom was Patricia. Mrs. Warren has a sister who is considerably younger than her. She got into drugs pretty badly. She had a couple of overdoses, a few arrests and it seemed like she was spiraling totally out of control and headed towards death. Right before Mr. Warren was arrested they had taken out a policy on the sister thinking that her days were numbered. They used the Mrs. Warrens name but there was a place on there for date of birth for the beneficiary and that’s where the need of the girls comes in. The sister didn’t die. She actually turned her life around and married a pretty successful man. Mrs. Warren didn’t know any of that and kept paying the premium thinking that eventually it would pay off. Well, the sister died in a car accident a couple months ago with the husband and she left everything she had to Trish. Again, since they share the same name, it seemed as if the payoff was going to go to Mrs. Warren until a new document was discovered that stated her niece Patricia Warren. With Trish gone, it goes automatically to her heirs who the reps of the estate knew nothing about so the payoff was about to happen to Mrs. Warren. One of the sister’s friends though knew about the girls and brought it to the attention of the executor of the will.” She stopped and took a drink as Bette and I tried to absorb all that she had said. They hadn’t changed at all. They hadn’t wanted to do right by Trish. They wanted to use the girls to get their hands on some money that hadn’t been intended for them anyway.

    1. I can’t express how happy I am that you’ve been updating this story again. I would check the site everyday and nothing. I love everything about this story. The Warren’s must be left penniless, they’re horrible people. PPS

    2. ”was able to find some time today to finish this chapter as I avoided raking leaves. Hopefully, I’ll have some time in the next days to add more.” – – You know, newagegirl, that trees actually benefit from leaves on the ground (they add insulation, shielding their roots from winter cold)… so you’d be doing the trees a favor by staying inside and writing… not that your loyal readers would complain either :-)

    3. So happy to see another chapter tonight and the warrens are doing just what I thought they were doing, all this for money, the bastards. Hopefully with their newly discovered criminal history, Joyce will be able to nail them to the wall and the Court can deny their access to the girls permanently. Wondered if Bette and Tina would be able to stay away from each other and it was so great to watch them realize they did not want to be apart and for them to discover that they needed to be with each other. Great chapter. PPS

    4. They were going to disrupt these girls life for money. Sorry sacks of whale s&&t. Guess there re people in this world that out for what they can get at the risk of hurting others. They are so worthless.horrible people. Lets bring out the letter from the Mother so a judge can see how she felt about her children and Bette. A voice from the grave. thanks

    5. Oh NAG, I’m so glad you ditched the leaves for us today. So now we know the motivation of the Warrens…I have a feeling though it won’t be as easy to win this as Joyce thinks, which means we are in for some drama still! Beautiful writing NAG, just beautiful!

    6. tissue queenetta, you need to use that rake of yours alright, you go rake up those Warrnes put them in the campfire and wala, little and big girls can drag momma Bette into the woods and have thier outdoorsy way with her. perfect. Thank you, Md

    7. Yep, break in a few days, can’t wait, but then the dreaded FCAT. I am hoping that Joyce and others are able to do some major damage to the Warrens. Money seems to be the key to the Warrens. Maybe some jail time would be a better place for them.

    8. So wonderful to see another post so soon – The Warrens are greedy, evil, and heartless folks. Somehow I knew money was involved. I hope Joyce sticks it to these two soundrels in court. It was wonderful that the evening ended as it did – with ice cream and one another. Hope to see If You Never… after the school break!

    9. Just catching up missed this update somehow. I love this story and I love that the Warren’s aren’t just run of the mill homophobes but skanky crooked robbers – let Joyce at them please.thanks for posting and writing.

    10. NAG you cannot leave this wonderful story unfinished. its to good to be left. as is If you never say anything to me. i just love how you tell your stories, absolutely fabulous. please come back and finish them. i cannot tell you enough how brilliant you and your writing are. i hope all is well with you and that some day see that you have returned to finish these fantastic stories.

    11. I think Bette should just give the Warrens the money with the understanding they never, ever contact the girls and drop the custody case. Save Emma and Lyss from knowing how cruel and heartless people can be. Great update. Can’t wait for more :)

    12. Well, the Warrens become each time more horrible people, whom do not deserve to have the custody of Emma and Alyssa. B&T are getting more solid as a couple and the girls feel more comfortable knowing that they do belong to them. Bette’s friends and Kit are helping to ease the path of the battle in court. Thanks for this great update. Hugs & kisses on both your cheeks. PPS Lucero & Marsha (Proud Salsa Aunties to the ever loving JC and Eunichick)

    13. Thanks for the quick update, NICE. I knew that it would be about money, it usually is about that or control. I am soooo happy that the girl have had a chance to meet and enjoy Tina’s parents before they found out about the Warren’s motive. Now that they are engaged the girls have gain to GREAT grandparents and the Warrens have aquired two new enemines in this fight. PPS :o).

    14. YEAH, AVOIDANCE, its such a huge methodology for me to eventually work my way through things…so i’m glad the story cane before leaves. those girls are so sweet, joyce will trash the warrens for sure. nasty people. pps.
