    the Mutant Chapter Two {the L word/X-Men crossover}

Dana walked back into her house and hit the light switch.

“What the fuck?” She hit the switch again, but nothing.

“Hello Dana.” Dana stepped back and pressed her back against the door. “We were expecting you.”

“Who the hell is in my house?”

    “Relax Dana—it’s all right.”

“Jean?” The light came on in the room. Dana squinted and blinked. She saw Jean and three other people in her living room. “W-what are you doing here? How did you get in here?”

Dr. Xavier spoke up. “We’ve been keeping a watchful eye on you.”

Dana moved away from her door. “Why?”

“We want you to join us.” Ororo spoke up.

“Join what? Who are you people?”

    “You people?” Logan snarled.

“Logan—,” Jean looked at him. “She didn’t mean it in that way.”

“We’re mutants Dana.” Dana looked at Dr. Xavier.

    “You’re teasing right. I’m not a mutant.”

“You don’t have to lie to yourself Dana. It’s okay to be different.” Dana looked at Jean.

“I’m not different. I’m normal—you have the wrong person.”

“Dana,” she turned her attention to Dr. Xavier. “It’s okay to be afraid.” She heard him in her head.

    “What are you talking about?”

“You know exactly what I mean—you were abandoned by your family when you were seven because they thought you had a sickness. You always heard voices and move things with your mind, but never knew why.”

    “How do you know this?”

“I’m just like you Dana.” He smiled. “You have powers that you didn’t know you had until now, but you need to learn how to control them.”

“Dana what the—,” Alice burst into the house, but stopped. Dana turned around and saw Alice with a befuddled look on her face. “What’s going on?”

“Alice—I need you to stay calm and not freak out.”

“I’m already freaked out about what happened. How did you do that? Are you a witch?” Logan snickered, and Ororo nudged him in the ribs.

“No,” Dana shook her head. “I’m not a witch. I’m different.”
