The Party
It’s not the crowd or the noise that makes Tina uneasy it’s the way eyes immediately gravitate toward Bette the way conversations pause, how heads turn to take in her presence Bette radiates without trying effortlessly drawing people in.
Bette leans in, her voice a soft murmur against Tina’s ear.
Bette (gently, reassuring): Hey… I’m right here you look stunning you’ve got nothing to worry about.
Tina lets out a breath and nods, grounding herself in the warmth of Bette’s words. There’s comfort in knowing that despite all the attention Bette commands, her eyes the ones that make Tina’s heart race are only on her. With fingers lightly intertwined, she leads Bette into the heart of the party, holding on just a little tighter than before.
Eyes follow them some curious, others admiring but Bette doesn’t seem to notice or maybe she just doesn’t care.
Bette’s focus is entirely on Tina, her hand resting lightly on the small of Tina’s back a subtle, intimate gesture that speaks volumes conversations pause, whispers ripple through the crowd.
Until now, some of Bette’s admirers had assumed she was merely toying with Tina, but the way she looks at her protective, adoring, utterly committed tells a different story. There is no doubt now Bette Porter is serious about Tina Kennard.
As they weave through the crowded living room, Tina greets familiar faces, introducing Bette with a proud smile. Bette, ever poised, shakes hands and exchanges pleasantries.
Tina beams with pride as she guides Bette through the throng, introducing her to friends she holds dear. When they reach Lara the red haired room mate and close friend instantly warms to Bette, noting how attentive she is how she leans in slightly when Tina speaks, how her hand instinctively finds Tina’s when the music swells.
They move on to Helena, sharp eyed and quick witted, who greets them with an amused smirk and folded arms.
Tina (smiling, hand resting on Bette’s arm): This is Bette… the one I’ve been telling you about.
Bette extends a hand, her charm dialed down just enough to be sincere but still unmistakably… her.
Bette (with a soft smile): It’s really great to meet the people Tina actually likes.
Helena raises an eyebrow, amused. Lara chuckles. The ice breaks quickly, and soon they’re chatting

Oh Henry you asshole I hope Helena and the gang beat your ass
Wow, Bette got there just in the nick of time. That bastard needs so much more than Bette gave him. Seems like Helena might just have more than friendship love for Tina. With both Bette and Helena against him, Henry is going to wish he never laid eyes on Tina. I can’t wait to see what he has coming his way.
I love how protective Bette is of Tina. Wonder what Henry may do next.
Hope all is well, when can we expect to see another chapter of this wonderful fic?
