    The Slow Burn

    Recap….

The kiss is a storm into itself wild, urgent, a tangled confession of every unsaid word. It crashes between them like thunder, fierce and unrelenting, lips searching, hands grasping, bodies pulling closer as if the space between them no longer exists. The rain weaves through their hair, clings to their skin, slipping down their faces like the tears neither will shed. Bette’s fingers knot into Tina’s damp curls, anchoring her, while Tina grips the fabric of Bette’s jacket, as if letting go would send her spiraling into the unknown. They are lost in the downpour, in each other, in a moment where the whole world fades, leaving only the rain and the breathless ache between them.

When they finally pull away, their foreheads rest together, breathless, the storm still raging around them.

Tina: (whispering, eyes closed) Don’t make me regret this.

Bette tightens her hold on Tina’s waist, pressing another lingering kiss to her forehead.

Bette: (soft but certain) I won’t.

Tina exhales, finally letting herself believe it.

The rain keeps falling, but now, they don’t care.

    Chapter: 4

    Bette’s Room

Bette unlocks the door to her dorm room and steps aside, watching as Tina hesitantly crosses the threshold. The room is warm, dimly lit by a small lamp on the bedside table, casting a golden glow over the walls adorned with art prints and neatly stacked law books. The soft patter of rain against the window fills the quiet space, mirroring the weight of the moment between them. Their clothes cling to their skin, soaked from the storm outside, but neither seems to notice the chill.

Without a word, Bette moves to a small cabinet, pulling out a fresh towel and offering it to Tina.

Bette: Here, dry off. I’ll get you something to change into.

Tina takes the towel, her hands trembling slightly as she dabs at her damp hair. She watches Bette rummage through a dresser, her movements calm but deliberate, as if trying not to let her own nerves show. Finally, Bette returns, holding out an oversized sweatshirt and a pair of soft sweatpants. walking back to Tina and holding them out.

Bette: These should fit okay. The bathroom’s right there if you want to change.

Tina hesitates, their fingers briefly brushing as she takes the clothes. The warmth of Bette’s skin lingers like an unspoken promise. She nods and disappears into the bathroom, closing the door softly behind her.

    1. One of my favorite lines – “We’d be the dog eared page someone can’t bear to forget. A story that lingers, long after the last word is read. The kind that refuses to fade, because love like this doesn’t belong to time it belongs to forever.” Exactly Bette & Tina.

I’m loving their romantic, sweet interactions. The Slow Burn – I’m here for it. Worried about what Henry will do…

      Great story!

      • Thank you so much
That line is one of my favorites too I really wanted to capture the kind of timeless, unforgettable love Bette and Tina share. I’m so happy you’re enjoying the slow burn and their growing connection. And yes, Henry is definitely the dark cloud looming over their sunshine. Things are about to get even more intense.

    2. Hello, I love this fic. I almost had a heart attack when I read the first chapter, I thought it was going to be a softer beginning. I love their beginning story though. I have a feeling that Henry is going to get aggressive with Tina in an effort to show her they should be together. If not that he will probably try to set Bette up, so Tina thinks she is cheating. I hope she can see through an attempt like that. If he does get aggressive with Tina, I hope Bette catches him in the act and kicks his butt. I am thoroughly enjoying this, please continue.

      • Thank you so much I know the first chapter came in like a storm definitely not the soft beginning you might’ve expected But I’m so glad you’re loving Bette and Tina’s origin story.

And wow, you’re very on point with your predictions Let’s just say Henry’s not done causing trouble, but Bette’s not backing down either. There are some intense moments ahead, but also a lot of growth,

Thank you again for reading and sharing your thoughts it truly means the world More coming soon.
