    The Party

Tina freezes. His words hit like a slap. The lies. The manipulation. The friend she thought she knew suddenly a stranger.

Tina (quiet, trembling): You lied… about Bette?

Henry nods, guilt pouring out of him.

Henry (barely above a whisper): I thought if I could make you doubt her, maybe… maybe you’d see me instead. (he swallows) I love you, Tina. I always have. I can give you the life you deserve. A happy family. Everything.

Tina stares at him, eyes wide with disbelief. Her voice, is steady and heart breakingly calm.

Tina: You don’t love me, Henry. Not really. You loved the idea of me.
(beat) And you used that to try and poison something real something good.

Henry: But I was there for you. Through everything. I know you better than anyone

Tina (shaking her head): You were my friend. That’s all I ever asked you to be. And I trusted you. (her voice sharpens) You made me doubt her. You made me question myself. Why would you do that?

Henry steps forward, but Tina raises her hand, stopping him cold.

Tina (firm, final): Don’t. Don’t come any closer.

    The silence stretches between them.

Tina (softer now, but resolute): I do deserve happiness. And I’ve found it with Bette. (beat) I’m sorry if that hurts. But it’s not my job to fix you, Henry.

His face twisted with rejection, frustration burning in his eyes. He grabbed her shoulders forcefully trying to pull her closer.

Henry (hoarse, desperate): No, Tina. You don’t know what you’re saying. You need to be with me. I’ll make you see

Before she could react, he leaned in, trying to kiss her.

    Tina (startled, struggling): Henry, Stop

He didn’t listen. Driven by some twisted conviction, he gripped her tighter. Tina turned her face, pushing against his chest with both hands.

Tina (furious, panicked): Stop, what the hell are you doing?

She shoved against him, struggling. His grip tightened as he lost control, pushing her backward her back hit the edge of the bed and she stumbled, falling onto it.

Adrenaline surged. Tina kicked and pushed, her voice shaking now not with fear, but fury.

Tina (shouting): Stop it, this is insane

She gathered her strength managed to break free and shoved him hard. He lost his balance and staggered backward.

    1. Wow, Bette got there just in the nick of time. That bastard needs so much more than Bette gave him. Seems like Helena might just have more than friendship love for Tina. With both Bette and Helena against him, Henry is going to wish he never laid eyes on Tina. I can’t wait to see what he has coming his way.
