"but he only took 10 grand.. " Helena asked in astonishment… as the others watched this display.. all in shock..
"i know… the first 10 grand was for what my father took and the rest… it for everything you did for Carmen and I in Canada… and even though the wedding didn’t happen… i still want to repay you for what you did… your a great friend Helena and your have a bigger heart then anyone i have ever met.. so just take it… its not a bribe for your friendship… its just the beginning of me trying to fix what i did… OK.." Shane said seeing that her word were finally sinking in… she took a step back…
"but where did you get.." Helena started but Shane cut her off again..
"i saved about 5 grand by mowing lawns, cutting hair at the local barbershop in Oregon, and a lot of other odd jobs.. and the rest i got by pawning a few thing i needed to part with…" having said all she could Shane bent down and grabbed her bag of the ground… but Carmen noticed something was missing and asked…
"Shane.. where is that necklace you always wear, you know, the one with the ring your mother gave you and that cross.."
Shane smiled… "I gave the cross to Shay… when i was a kid it was the one thing that made me feel like i was wanted and i thought maybe shay could use it.. plus he wouldn’t let me leave till i gave him something.. so ya.. look i need to get going.. um… you all know my number and don’t hesitate to call if anyone needs anything,,"Shane said and turned towards the door…
"And the ring" Carmen asked as Shane opened the door…
Shane paused and slowly turned… "lets just say.. i left it in Oregon, along with the rest of my past" she said with a smile before leaving the apartment…
The entire group sat there, in silence processing everything that had just happened… none of them sure what to say… until Alice finally gave in and asked..
"OK is it me.. or did Shane grow up.. i mean she looked like Shane, she even sounded like Shane but"
"Alice!"Lara yelled at her girlfriend who usually didn’t know when to stop talking…
"what" Alice asked innocently.. then looked at Carmen who was now crying again… "sorry"she whispered and moved to comfort her emotionally drained friend…
They all knew this was going to be a long night.. but none of them regreted anything that had happened.. and they all knew it was as Shane put it.. only the beginning…

Excellent, and let me just say that I think your writing has matured as well. Just like the Shane you write about.

loveeeeeeeeeeeeed it didnt like the whole upset carmen thing but at least now maybe they can work on getting back what they had especially with sheane all grown up . wowm great story and yess more broken phone calls please and yes ill say it again yay happy sharmen soooo please happy sharmen.
