    The Roommates – 2nd Dimension: Chapter 53

    The Roommates – 2nd Dimension: Chapter 53

Special Note: In this story, Bette’s mother’s name is Janice. This name had already been established as the character’s name before we met Maxine at the end of Season 2. I used Janice to keep the story consistent.

    Previously~~~~~~~~~~~~

    From Chapter 27

“Are you asking me if I’m gay?”, asked Karen.

Bette smiled and said, “Yeah, I am. I mean you’ve totally caught me off guard. The HRC sticker, those Birkenstocks….you just seem to kind of give off some signs. That’s all.”

Karen smiled in return. “You say ‘give off’ as though you’re capable of receiving those signs.”

Color rushed to caramel-skinned cheeks and Bette cleared her throat, pulling strands of dark curls behind her ear. “I don’t know about receiving anything. I just…I saw the sticker…maybe…maybe I was wrong.”

Karen reached down and placed her hand on top of Bette’s before lowering her voice to say, “You’re not wrong, Bette. You picked up all my signals. I’m a lesbian.”

Even though she’d speculated on this notion, hearing the truth from her aunt’s lips was still surprising to Bette. With her eyes wide open she asked, “You are?”, her voice so quiet it was nearly a whisper. Tina watched on in amazement at the scene unfolding before her, the family pictures falling from her slackened hands.

    Karen nodded in reply.

“Does Grandma kn – – “, she began, her voice still a whisper.

Karen swallowed Bette’s words, shaking her vigorously in dissent. “No, Grandma doesn’t know. And neither did Dad.”

“Whoa. So, are you gonna tell her?”, asked Bette.

“I don’t think so. She doesn’t need to know right now.”, said Karen.

“Do you have a girlfriend?”, asked Bette.

“I did. We are going through some things right now so we really aren’t together.”, said Karen, a flash of hurt flickering in her soft blue eyes.

    From Chapter 52

“It looks like your account is in great standing. It’s up to date through the spring semester. You don’t have any loans or grants. Just a few scholarships..”

Bette nodded and chewed at her lip. “Sounds right. My father….he’s been paying for nearly everything.”

    1. i knew her mom would come through… and i’m so glad aunt karen also told janice… love this story… so glad you are back… we need all of the bette and tina’s love stories we can get… please continue

    2. i was rereading your story all weekend because i missed your version of my 2 favorite lovers. please don’t go mia for too long. thanks for the post. i’m glad to see Janice is there for her daughter.

    3. Finally some good news. I hope Janice is right that Melvin won’t go off all crazy and tell Tina’s family what is going on; but knowing Melvin he’ll try and blame Tina for seducing Bette and tell her parents that their child ruined his child’s future (uh oh). I have to admit that i had to go back and read the chapetrs w/ Karen b/c i totally forgot about her role in the story. Keep the chapters coming, please!

    4. Awww Bette is so adorable. I love this story and im glad that you are posting more often! I hope Tina come out to her family although i think she is waiting to finish school first. Btw when are they graduating??.

    5. Things aren’t 100%, but they are getting better. And Janice shouldn’t feel bad about not seeing that B&T’s relationship was deeper than friends or that Karen is gay. Hell I’m gay and I have rotten gaydar when it comes to women. lol Oh, and all hail Birkenstocks!

    6. oh I was so happy when I saw this update, thank you. Whew, close shave for Bette, thank God for Karen and Janice…now what about Tina’s folks??????I’m so scared for her, lmao at myself!!!!!

    7. That was great, but for some reason I feel like there’s definate drama brewing, thanks to Melvin Porter. Don’t know about anyone else, but I can really do without all the intense drama, but such is life! Post soon, please.

    8. rock out. i haven’t been to this site in months, and then i come back out of a strange sense of nostalgia, checking up on my favorite writers, and behold – here you are again. six months is a long time away, but my story has been stagnant for several months now too, so no worries. plus i don’t think nearly as many people remember me as well as they do you. getting back on subject, though. it’s good to see you back, and i’ll visit the site more frequently now that i have something to look forward to.

    9. I hope Janice turns out to be a true mom and friend to Bette, despite Melvin’s ignorance. And for Tina’s sanity, I hope Melvin keeps his mouth closed, but if he is into the blame game, he may call them up and tell Tina’s parents. Anyway, so glad you are back updating this story.

    10. Thank you for having Bette’s mom step up and be there for her kid unlike someone who’s name will never ever be mentioned by me again. Its bound to come out about Tina based merely on the fact that they have been open with each other and everyone else on campus. I just hope, and I feel this will always be Tina’s greatest struggle, that you have a back up plan for her some where in that marvellous writers head of yours…I would suggest as a humble reader that Tina look in to other ways to safe guard her position at the school for if and when her parents find out. Alphaville maybe?

    11. MTS, Wonderful to see how much Bette has grown in the last few chapters. She had the courage to stand up to her father even at the cost of their relationship; she went to face her financial issue and found support and solice there; she has opened up a little to her mother and shown her vulnerability and finally she has return to her true love and stated that whatever the future brings it will be easier to face as they will confront it together; united. I do get the sense that Melvin is a hurt anaimal and liable to do anything to lash out at Bette. Even telling Tina’s parents or using this as leverage ro force Bette in to following his bidding. I know that given your talent and genius thhis will continue to be one helluva ride so safety belt clicked and ready for launch. You are so skillful in conveying these massive emotions and storylines that I heartily applaud you. Thank you for this fantastic fan fic. Your Loyal Fan.

    12. Thank Janice !!! Glad she could have helped Bette. She wasn’t a bitch anyway, and she is more forgiven for what she did ater witnessing Melvin’s reaction. Deep, she is a good woman. Hope Tina will come out too…should take a little longer though ! Great Chapter !!

    13. I went back and re-read some of your earlier chapters, the ones that you specified in this chapter. It is easy to see how and why Janice ran from Melvin. Hopefully now she can be there for Bette. She is taking that step towards her daughter. It would be nice if Melvin did keep his mouth shut. Sometimes it is in the best interest of a child never to tell their parents. Some believe that it is necessary but in a lot of cases it only causes pain. Great post and please post soon.

    14. WELCOME BACK MTS….I’m so giddy to be able to write that to you. I’ve the biggest smile on my face, one of my absolute favourite writers are back….YYYYEEEEAAAAHHHHH. I’ve tried to PM you about a month ago, but I’m not sure it succeed, the side wouldn’t send my message…hmmm. Well enough about me, this is about you and the amazing B&T world you’ve created. I love all the drama, but please give the young girls a break, they really need it!!!! :o)) It would be so great if Janice comes through for Bette in this situation and with that they can bond, have a real mother/daugther relationship again. Please don’t disappear, it’s so great to have you back….more please :o))
