Chapter 55
Two weeks after Bette & Janice’s heart to heart, Tina sat in the student center, nibbling at her ice cream cone, Dana’s voice in her ears, her thoughts scattered.
“What’s wrong?”, asked Dana.
Tina’s eyes focused and she snapped back to reality. “Why…why do you think something’s wrong?”, she asked.
Dana shrugged. “I can just tell. What’s up?”
The young blonde sighed and looked away, “I need to make some decisions. I just don’t know what to do.”
Dana squinted, “What kind of decisions? What are you talking about?”
Amber eyes met concerned dark brown pools. “The summer’s coming up, Dane. Bette and I….we’re probably going to be apart. Her mom pulled some strings and got her an internship at The Met. Bette wants to go and then she doesn’t want to go. I know she’s waiting on me to give her permission. I haven’t quite been able to do that yet.”
The tennis player’s confusion shone in her eyes. “The Met?”
“The Metropolitan Museum of Art. It’s in New York.”
“Oh! Okay. I get it now.”
“So, I’m just…..dreading this. I don’t want her to go. I want her to stay here with me. I don’t want us to be apart from each other.”
Dana nodded. “You’re working at Alphaville, right?”
“Yeah. I’ll be here. And if she accepts, Bette will be all the way across the country.”
“Well, it won’t be for very long. It’s only a couple of months.”
Tina shot her friend a look that conveyed her disdain. “I know it’s only a couple of months. I also know that this is what we’re supposed to do at our age: go off and explore the world, trying to be successful and all that. I get it. I just don’t want us to be apart. I’m gonna miss her so much.”
“So her mom got her this job at The Mets….”, Dana began.
“The Met”, Tina corrected.
“Okay, The Met. And she hasn’t told her mom that’s she’s going to take it?”

MTS-Thanks for the update! Looks like it is going to be an very interesting summer for our girls. How will Tian handle having Bette so far away? And what kind if trouble will Bette get herself into out on the east coast. As for Alice, i was totally freaking out before i realized that she was dreamng about Bette (you had me worried there for a minute). Don’t keep your loyal fans waiting too long for the next update, Thanks!

MTS- I totally forgot to ask earlier, but what ever happened to Damon? he and Bette seemed like pretty good friends and after that disastrous w/ dinner I’m curious as to what their relationship is like now. If you already posted and answer to this question in one of your earlier chapters i must have missed it. Can you help me out?
I just caught up with this storie of yours and I abosolutely love it. Bette and Tina have so much chemistry in your storyline and there is something so sweet and pure about their young love. They are completely believeable and it just takes me back to my days on campus and I almost feel like they are in the same world as I am. I am looking foward to this summer break to see how the pair of them will cope being apart. I can almost feel the sexual tension building and see the phone bill growing. I also think this will be great for Bette and her mom. When I read about how lonely Janice was I thought it would be nice if Bette went to stay with her since Melvin hasn’t come around. I also thought about Tina telling Bette to enjoy her mother’s attempt to buy her and was thinking Bette should have her pay for school. Glad to see that is what happened. I’m anxious to see what happens with Tina and if she comes out to her parents. I’m keeping my eye on that Alice and I know that on the show Alice and Bette have a history but I just hope that stays on the show, Bette the adulteror is played out, I’m cheering for a deeply committed forthright Bette Porter to shine bright here, one who will not subcumb to the same faults as Melvin. This story is cool because you still have atleast 4 more years of college you can take them through in order to satisfy the craving for this story you have created in me and then once they graduate the possibilities are limitless. Thank you so much for this amazing work of art, I hope to be able to read for a long time to come…maybe it will even outlive the show.
NOT COOL! I’m sitting at work and wanted to scream, “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” during Alice’s dream. lmao Granted it seemed off like dreams usually are, but still. I think B&T are too young to get married, but they were so cute talking about it. I wonder what Tina thought of Randy Dean? ;)

The “Met-Mets” thing reminded me about Roos and Joey from “Friends”….Alice is in a lot of trouble…..Here is winter so I can´t have much icecream, but I´ll try xD.

Alice is really becoming irritating..lol! She seems to be popping up and causing trouble for everybody! First with chicki, then gumby, and now you ..lol!Doesn’t Alice realize that absence makes the heart grow fonder! It’s all good though! I am really enjoying this story, your writing is wonderful! alice really needs some reality check…i hope she won’t try to forget bette by moving on tina…this dream thing was freaky, i was ready to kiss someone…i think you should skip 3 months and go straight to the point where they meet again :)
Hi MTS, Loved this latest addition to this magnificent masterpiece. It was pleasing to see that Tina eventually gave Bette her approval. This was the push that Bette needed to follow her dream to ‘The Met’. Tina knew that trying to stop Bette would have ended up as resentment. Being in love means that you have to trust her enough to let them go; if she comes back then she is yours. A hard lesson to learn but a necessary one. This time will be a wonderful opportunity for Bette and her mum to bond. Hopefully the girls will visit one another suring this time apart. “Absence does make the heart grow fonded.” Alice is really missed up although her dream did have me reeling as I thought but Bette can’t be doing this. Alice’s indecision is perfect as she wrestles with these emotions as her heart is attached to Bette but her head knows it is wrong and that Bette belongs completely to Tina. Fun and games ahead. Please make this soon. Thank you so much as I leap with joy seeing a new post from your good self. Your Loyal Fan.
Baby Bette and baby Tee are so cute. Maybe Alice should find an internship in NY, so she may have a chance to get a kiss from Bette. =P
Loved the chapter! Im happy that Bette gonna live with her mom for 3 months..they will get know each other better. Alice needs to move on lol no chance for her :P
I would be a little nervous about leaving Alice in the same room as Bette. Bette would never mess up what she has with Tina to be with Alice. Hopefully they can work all this mess out. I wonder if Bette felt anything while watching Randy Dean and what Tina thought of her. Did Tina see her self in Randy?
