Dana ran her hand through her soft brown hair. “I feel so bad, but at the same time, I’m so drawn to her.”
“Oh boy.”
“And her girlfriend has shifted her life around for their relationship. They were high school sweethearts and her girlfriend came out to her parents so they could be together. Her name’s Jodie.”
Bette thought a moment. “So Lara feels devoted to Jodie because of their past, but she’s not happy with her.”
“Exactly.”
Bette chewed her lip for a moment before she got up and sat down next to Dana. She placed a friendly arm around the tennis player’s shoulder and said, “Dane, you deserve better. I know it’s hard seeing me and Tina together, but we’re some freakishly young connection. You need someone that can be devoted to you. I love you Dane. I don’t want to see you running around behind her like some puppy dog. You don’t have to feel sorry for Lara’s circumstances. She is responsible for herself. For her own choices.”
Dana sighed, her shoulder’s slumped in defeat. “I know.”
“The one thing I’ve learned from being involved in QA and from being with Tina is that lesbians are entitled to happiness. We’re allowed to have meaningful relationships. We’re allowed to fall in love and we’re allowed to feel just as whole and contented as the heteros in our world.”
“I know. I hear you, Bette.” Dana took a deep breath and said, “I need to get over her. I know I do.”
“Don’t worry, Sweetie. You’re never alone, you know that? I’m getting ready to fly across the country, but you know you can call me anytime. Okay?”
“Thanks Bette.”
“No problem.”
“Can I ask you one small favor?” asked Dana.
“What’s that?”
“Don’t mention this to Tina. I haven’t told her about it and I’m a little embarrassed.”
Bette smiled. “No worries, Dane. It’ll be just between you and me.”

It was another call from Eric.
She hit the “ignore” button and shook her head.
“Why is he still calling me? I have nothing to say to him,” she said aloud.
Her mind flashed to their breakup and her pregnancy scare from the fall. Her heart hardened. She’d given him her body as a sacrifice for heterosexuality and it had failed. At the back of her mind, she also held that against him.
She was so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn’t hear Bette turn the lock and just as the door opened she threw another book into the box and said. “He’s such an asshole. I wish he’d just stop calling me.”
Bette looked up and said, “T? Wish who would stop calling?”

Hey MTS, Thank you so much for showing that love making is a blissful and erotic moment when shared between two soul mates. Even though these gals have been together for a while they can still surprise and entice each other. Brilliant!! Beautifully written. And then Dana spilling the beans to Bette. I do hope that Bette can help Dana with these tough choices. Being in love with someone is not always enough to ensure happiness as other responsibilities can interfere. Dana just needs to trust her own emotions here and follow her heart. As for Eric, could he provide some bumps on the BnT highway??? Only time will tell. Damn Eric??? Totally forgot about him. What in the world could he want now? And Bette knew excatly what Tina needed after having to deal w/ The courtney situation and boy was that HOT!!! But wait Tina still isn’t out right? So she still won’t be able to support Bette in her new role as President of the QA; I think that may cause some problems down the road. And just a hunch but something tells me that Bette and Sydney aren’t completely done. One bad TiBette fight and a few drinks and some support and Ms. Porter may find herself slipping up (but I hope not). And poor Dana; the other woman :( Bette’s advice was dead on in my book. Nothing but pain to follow if Dana keeps runninga round w/ Lara while she is in a relationship. PPS!
