    Eventually, Tinas thoughts were interrupted by a nurse calling her name. She and Tracy followed the nurse back to an exam room where Tina changed into a gown and sat on the table, looking around nervously. Tracy sat in a chair, her spirit heavy with disappointment at her youngest daughter. They waited in shared silence for what seemed like an eternity when Tracy said, Tina, why werent you more careful? I just cant understand why you would put yourself in this position. Didnt you use protection?

    Tina sighed and lowered her head in shame. I.We were so.I.I wasnt thinking. We didnt use protection. Im sorry, Mom.

    Tina, this is your life were talking about. Your whole life, sweetheart. Everything is going to change. Have you thought about what you want to do?, she asked.

    I dont know, Mom. Im not ready to have a baby. I dont know what to do., said Tina.

    Tracy sighed and shook her head. Tina, well help you through this. Thats what were here for.

    Tina nodded as Dr. Murphy tapped lightly on the door before entering the small room. Dr. Murphy smiled at Tina and then at Tracy.

    Good morning ladies, she said. Tina, I hear you are in need of a pregnancy consultation.

    Tina, feeling uncomfortable in her own skin, simply nodded. Tracy spoke up for her.

    Yes. Tina has taken a pregnancy test that came up positive and I just want her checked out to make sure shes okay.

    The doctor nodded. You made the right decision to come in today. Tina, what type of test did you take?

    It was an over the counter, EPT. I took it on Wednesday night., she replied

    Dr. Murphy started writing on her clipboard and as she did so, she said Well, those are the best tests on the market. I often recommend them to my patients before they come into the office. They are very reliable.
