The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 2

By the time Alice arrived, Dana had left, departing through the garden-side master bedroom door. Her intent was to ensure Bette’s mind had a chance to rest and her body a chance to recover. Though she was still assessing the strength of this reality, Bette was glad when she was finally admitted to Cedars Sinai. Her electrolytes had been low, and her liver enzymes elevated. She’d told the ER nurse about hallucinating that she’d seen a friend. They had admitted her with a plan for a psych consult the following morning.

Though she was clothed in a hospital gown in a too-cold room, knowing that someone was taking care of her was calming for Bette. She’d also disclosed a dependence on alcohol and anxiety, and they’d given her something to relax. No sooner had she been settled in her room than Alice appeared. The blonde had Bette scoot over and lay beside her on the hospital bed.

Bette was glad Alice was there. Alice held her close, Bette’s head resting on her shoulder. “I’m so happy you let me bring you here, Bette. I was worried about you.”

“I was worried about me, too.”

“You’re my best friend in the world. I can’t lose you, okay?” said Alice.

Bette nodded. “I don’t think I’m going anywhere. Thanks for being here with me.”

Alice kissed her forehead. “We’ve been through hell together, Bette. There’s no way I’d ever leave you.”

They were quiet then, the tv playing softly in the background. The events of the day were flashing through Bette’s mind. A nurse came by and gave them more blankets. Alice held her tighter. Bette’s eyes closed as the fluids and meds pushed into her veins. Alice’s presence was comforting. She was drifting off to sleep when she said quietly, “I keep seeing Dana. She talks to me.”

There was a pause and Alice swallowed thickly, tears springing to her eyes. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

Bette’s eyes were still closed. “I just feel crazy, Al.”

“Her one-year anniversary was today. I didn’t want to bring it up.”

Bette was properly drowsy now. “One year,” she repeated.

“I miss her every day, Bette. Cancer fucking sucks.”

And though she was rapidly fading into a comforting sleep, Bette understood. Knew that Dana had died. That the manifestation she’d been seeing was Dana, circa 2005. She snuggled closer to Alice and slipped into the welcoming embrace of sleep.

    1. Interesting chapter, MTS! Sounds like Bette from 2005 could change the life of Bette from 2019 for the better. Drugs, alcohol, failed marriage… Bette now has the chance of letting go this life and start again.

I hope the idea of looking for and finding Tina will stick with Bette while she will adjust to this reality. Love that Dana plays a part in your story. Please let her continue to support and advise Bette.

Thanks for confirming that this will be a Tibette story. I’m happy to read that! Watching the previews of the new show made me depressed regarding the status of Tina’s and Bette’s relationship. I wished they’d find a better idea for our beloved couple. Thinking of Bette kissing some other woman makes me sad and I don’t like to watch that.
I do hope though that the show with all of these new characters will be a success and find a lot of fans like the original show did. But messing with Tibette .. ….

Anyway over here in Germany we’ll have to wait for some time to watch the show. If a TV station picks it up at all.

I do hope that a lot of writers – like you – will continue to create wonderful stories about Tina and Bette and the usual gang.

Looking forward to the next chapter of your story!

      cheers

    2. Hi! Thank you for the new update!

So, this Bette from 2019 not very nice person – drug, alcohol. And no Tina. Bette from 2005 i like better. But we will see what this Bette can do with her problems.

About “Gen. Q” – no, not planning to watch at all. This spin-off (for me this “show” not sequel but spin-off) lack only reason for me to watch it – Tibette. So not

    3. Hi MTS:

This is a great story, I couldn’t comment before, but from the beginning, I thought it was worthy to follow.

I think this new book about the roommates is refreshing and gives us a new start. I sense a little bit of sci-fi (alternate timeline), and I like it very much.

I want to know what is about Tina in this timeline, but I guess you’ll tell us in the next chapters.

So far the story is going so good, of course as many here, I would like more pages, but every length is good.

About the new show, I’m watching, I needed to watch it because it was depressing, I was nervous about this generation Q, taking away my TIBETTE, but I discovered that TIBETTE is FOREVER, and I will keep reading and writing TIBETTE stories, though in the new show are new good characters, it doesn’t compare with TIBETTE, (at least so far for me). And I will keep also watching the new show.

Thanks for the chapter, and please post soon.

      P

    4. Intriguing chapter: lots of questions still to answer. But that will come with additional chapters. Looking forward to them & finding out more of the story.

Thanks so much for continuing this story & the Tibette fan fiction.

Like Bette in this story – lost & looking for answers, that is how I felt in viewing the first episode of Gen Q.

Not liking not having Tina in the series. I think they could have worked around Laurel’s art schedule to include her in the show. The show seemed disjointed & shallow. No spark except for Bette. Alice & Shane haven’t seemed to have matured or evolved in the past 10 years.

Will continue to watch & prayer for Tibette to some how reconnect. I too don’t wish to see Bette with anyone else but Tina.

      Thanks again.

    5. Oh Geeze, poor Bette! I’m absolutely 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 laughing at her responses after “Dana” starts talking about alternate realities!!!

”Is this what schizophrenia feels like?”

When Alice calls: “I’m good Alice. But I think you were right. I’m not we. Can you please come get me and take me to the hospital?”

Dana tells Bette about hr dependence on cocaine and bet says:

“Dark chocolate eyes grew wide: “I’m a coke head?!”

But the line that just made me hollah was”. Bette laughed bitterly. “No Tina and I’m a drug addict”🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Bette: “No Tina, I’m a coke head, and I’m gay married but separated from Sidney Davis”

Though she was still assessing the strength of this reality, Bette was glad when she was finally admitted to Cedars Sinai.

She to the R nurse about hallucinating that she’d seen a friend. They admitted her with a plan for a psych consult the following morning.

Y’all Bette was totally convinced that she had gone off the deep end and she wasn’t fighting not even a little bit

This is the funniest dialog with Bette I have ever read!!! Brava NTS👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
