    Bette makes a sacrifice. Contains some S3 spoilers, explicit language and angst.

    Why are you crying? You don’t deserve to cry. She chastised.

    Closing her eyes, she took a moment to compose herself, by valiantly digging deep inside her soul.  Then after reaching some emotionally stability, applied some makeup to appear presentable.

    It was time to act.

    Going outside and around the back, Bette walked over to Jenny’s house and knocked on the door.

    Shane answered with alluring smile and a tad bit of lipstick on the left side of her mouth. “Hey Bette. What’s up?”

    “I’m sorry to bother you this late, but I was wondering if you could watch Angelica for a few minutes?”

    Shane blinked, somewhat torn with indecision. “Um,” She had been right in the middle of something quite sensuous with Carmen. “Where’s Tina?”

    “She’s out with her date.” Bette answered quickly, pretending that her wife having sex with a man didn’t bother her.  As much as the concept tore at her, Tina falling in love with him killed her even more.

    “Oh,” Shane replied. They had all heard, a few weeks back that the two women had agreed to date others for awhile. It had been a complete shock to Shane when she heard it, but she hadn’t believed it when Bette told them.  There was something about Bette’s demeanor that implied to Shane that the brunette hadn’t agreed at all, but perhaps felt she had to, in order to keep Tina in her life.  At the time, Shane was so upset by it, she had avidly discussed it with the rest of the gang and after religiously debating over it, all of them questioned whom really wanted to ‘see other people‘.

    “Please, I need to run a quick errand,” she pleaded glancing at her watch. “And Tina won’t be back for a couple of hours.”  Bette explained trying not to think about it.  Usually, her wife came home between 10:00 pm and 1:00 am.  Bette always knew the exact time because she couldn’t sleep until Tina was home safe and sound.  Despite the awkwardness of their situation, Bette would anxiously wait by the window, watching until the familiar vehicle came into view.  She would witness Tina get out, smile and give him a light kiss on the lips before she came inside.  Then Bette would walk dejectedly to the guestroom and attempt to sleep by herself, knowing only restlessness and nightmares would be her fate for the entire night.  Slowly, but surely, it broke Bette’s heart more every day.

    6. damn bette i always said she was the girl on the show and fan fiction. i hated it had to come down to this but she deserves better than tina. when betewas the only one working she did’nt complain about money. my girl bette needs to get her confidence back then come to tina and angelica dont have heraway to long.

    10. That was heartbreaking, as is the show this season…wait, as was the show last season as well! I hope you do continue this. Will Tina be truly upset, or will she just be pissed that Bette left her will all the responsibility? With the way she is acting, I think she will find a way to be the victim in this situation as well. Please continue. Thanks!

    16. superbly written, my heart completely broke for bette. i know alot of people have been very open about abandoning the couple as the show seems to have but i have a lot more faith in the wonderful fanfic writers here to tell a better story, so please do continue.

    21. Put that in your pipe and smoke it Tina! You did an amazing job with this chapter, Scarletred. I think that you should continue with this story but even if you don’t, I feel satisfied that through you, Tina knows the hell that she put Bette through.

    23. Great writing. Fantastic. Man I hope the man storyline doesn’t happen on the show, but as I saw on tonight’s trailers it seems that it will. If it does go down like this I hope gets to have her say on the show too. I’m glad you gave Bette her say-so, maybe now Tina will realize she does love Bette so much and needs her too. I’m glad Bette left and did not sleep with anyone else. Keep writing.

    25. great chapter. Bette has done the right thing. And if it doesn’t transpire to the actual season episodes…well, then Bette’s asking to be walked all over. Hope this happens to a degree, and things are resolved towards the end of the season. I can’t bear it anymore! Also – why would ANYONE say what Bette did in that Tina/Josh promo??!! pls post soon x
