The Second Chance (18)
Both Jenny and Bette flinched and looked up.
"We will fast forward to tomorrow morning, a family day," God said, "you will make a decision then."
Bette’s brow furrowed in confusion, "I don’t understand."
"You’ll know when the moment comes," God said.
Bette looked at Jenny and gulped. Jenny grabbed her hands, "don’t be scared Bette, everything will be okay."
"What if I have to watch Tina suffer for me?" Bette said her voice cracking.
"Once you make the decision you will never see anything from the world ever again," Jenny said, "you won’t have to see her."
Bette suddenly felt dizzy, "whoa."
Jenny gripped her arms, "Bette are you okay?"
"I think it’s happening!" Bette cried, "it’s changing to tomorrow morning."
"Bette!" Jenny cried as Bette’s body went limp and she fainted.
"Bette!" Tina cried having run into the yard.
"Jenny what happened!" Shane cried running to Bette’s side.
Tasha ran to them, "out of the way I have medical training."
Shane scrambled out of the way.
"I don’t know what happened she just fainted," Jenny said.
"I think her blood pressure went down," Tasha said, "is she hypoglycemic?"
Tina ran into the yard holding a cup of water and said, "she normally needs sugar to function."
"Let’s get her inside and get her some sugar and some rest," Tasha said.

Bette woke up to the sounds of voices coming from downstairs. When the sun streaming through the window nearly blinded her she shot up out of bed. "Decision time," Bette said.
"Bette," Jenny said standing up from the chair she was sitting in.
"Jenny what’s going on?" Bette said.
"Everyone’s downstairs, we all stayed here because we were worried about you," Jenny said. "Did you make the decision?"
"No, I remember passing out in the yard and that’s it," Bette said.
Jenny’s brows furrowed, "don’t worry Bette, you’ll know what to do when the time comes. Everyone’s on the porch waiting for you to wake up and having coffee."
"Yeah let’s go," Bette said.
They started walking out of the room when Jenny asked, "how did you even end up in a coma in your other life?"
"Uh I was going to Angie’s seventh birthday party and she ran onto the street when I arrived. A car was heading right for her so I pushed her out of the way and took the hit," Bette said.
Jenny froze in her spot.
"What?" Bette said.
"Well God does things in a full-circle kind of way," Jenny said, "when I went back to make my decision I was standing in front of your pool."
Bette’s eyes widened, "that means…"
"Angie!" Jenny cried.
Bette was already running out of the house before Jenny even finished saying the name. The gang was just shocked by her sudden appearance and stood up in alarm, but Bette didn’t even hear what they said. Her eyes were just focused on Angie playing tag with Shane on the grass.
She heard the screeches of the tires and saw the red convertible swerving on the street. A drunk driver.
"Bette!" Jenny cried running out after her.
"What’s going on?" Tina cried in worry.
Shane turned towards the car and jumped out of the way as it careened over the sidewalk. Bette grabbed Angie and threw her back at Jenny who caught her and staggered back.
"Angie!" Tina yelled running out into the yard.
The last thing Bette heard was screaming then she felt pain and felt her body flying. She crashed with a thud onto the floor and the world was blurry, she saw Tina leaning over her cradling Angie protectively sobbing, "Bette!"
"Bette! Baby sis!" Came Kit’s voice from somewhere.
She heard someone being slammed onto the trunk of the car. "You son-of-a-bitch you are under arrest for driving under the influence!" Tasha’s voice said.
"Hello, yes please we need an ambulance someone’s been hit by a drunk driver!" Alice’s desperate voice said.
"Bette!" Shane cried leaning on the other side of her, "stay with us please!"
"Don’t let her sleep!" Tasha cried.
"Bette, baby please," Tina sobbed. She was hysterical. Bette’s eyes started closing as she heard Tina crying, "no! Bette! Stay awake! BETTE!"
When Bette opened her eyes again she was in the white room again standing in front of God.
He took her hand gently and said, "decision time."
