The park was beautiful, the day perfect. Tina had set up a nice blanket and had even brought a basket for their lunch. She was leaning down onto it as Angelica reached for her mystery book.
“Mom, is it gonna be just us?”
Tina leaned back onto her elbows, reaching for her own book as she looked up to her child. “Bette’s coming, hunny. Remember? She had to drop in at work, but she’ll be here.” She spoke confidently, because she was. For some reason she hadn’t been able to understand, she was beginning to put a lot of trust into Bette.
And in the gallery, Bette was growling at all her work. Then she dropped her head and got to her feet. She grabbed her bag and put it over her shoulder, thinking her actions through to make sure they weren’t simply the product of frustration.
She took her purse and laptop, walking out to the front desk, waiting for James to give her his attention.
“I’m leaving for the day. You can just take messages, and it would be easier if you would e-mail me all of the chaos.”
“But …” James started, wondering how he might tell Bette that was not wise in her line of work. When things got busy, you had to fight through it. He wouldn’t want his boss to lose out on a donor to the gallery by getting caught up in something else. “It’s uh … getting busy here.”
“Well I have something more important to do,” she said with all seriousness, and James was shocked. Something more important than work? I thought work was your life. But he kept his thoughts to himself.
“Uh … alright.” He couldn’t understand for the life of him why Bette would simply walk out on an afternoon’s work. At the same time, he knew Bette’s work ethic, and he knew that she would somehow pull everything together. She always did.
“Hey James?” Bette called back, standing at the door to the gallery.
He turned his head up, watching the phone light up with callers again. “Yes?”
“I’m … really lucky to have you working for me.”
He was so stunned he couldn’t respond.
“You work really hard. Thank you.”
“Y-you’re welcome,” he called just as she had pushed the door open, rewarded with another smile as she left. He’d had to force the words out so as not to just sit silently, but after his boss had gone, he was more confused than he had ever been. Did she just thank me? Bette was not often as vocal with her appreciation. She expected the world from her employees, James being the one she spoke with most.

I find myself agreeing with some of the other comments left, the time is coming for the hiding and sneaking about to stop. How much longer does Tina think that they have to keep it up? After Angie’s asleep, it’s adult time… would it be so terrible if Bette spent the night from time to time? Is there any future for them if she can’t? Thanks for the post. :)

i think its time for tina and angie to talk… i feel bad for bette having to sneak out … maybe angie could say in the morning to tina… so why does bette leave so early… she should eat breakfast before going to work… i also think angie knows something is up… great story… pps
Just read all 17 chapters this morning and afternoon. I love the tension you create between Bette and Tina…both sexual and emotional. I love your writing GR…please let this story lead eventually to some kink! If not this one, then plan one soon with some kink? I did say please!

I have this feeling that our girls are going to coming out their closetted love nest soon. Angie, although had Tina’s best interest in mind, doesn’t fully grasp what sharing her mom would be like. Will Angie be disappointed and feel threatened by Bette? Can’t wait to find out. Thanks GR 😘

Yes, as soon as I read T waking B up for her to leave, I was thinking itd be funny if Angelica were to innocently ask a question of B either with T already there (maybe fixing their meal) or having just walked in to the room without them noticing yet. And of course the question would be along the lines of why doesnt B stay or leaves so early. Maybe she could ask if her moms bed isnt comfy enough and she prefers sleeping in her own bed (I know I do). Thx for the post and cant wait to see what happens in the next!

I am addicted to this story everyday I check back for an update. Things are becoming serious whether they like it or not. But the love each other and that’s all that matters.
This story gets better and better. Angie’s really seems to like Bette. I think it’s time for Tina to have a talk with Angie about her relationship with Bette. Great chapter.
