“Tina, There is no hurry with the office. I am just happy I will have a place to practice medicine again. I have to go. I have errands to run before my hot date tonight.” Charlotte winked at Tina, her eyes dance with glee and mischief.

Tina just shook her head, “Of course, you must look your best.”

“I wouldn’t want to disappoint my lovely date.” Charlotte paused. She cocked her head to the side. After a few moments she nodded to herself as if she had made her mind up about something. “I’ll pick you up here at 5:30“

“Charlotte,” Tina stopped unsure what she wanted to say. She was certain that she wanted to thank this woman but for want she did not know. “Thank you for everything.” Tina’s melancholy eyes pleaded with Charlotte, longing to be understood.

Charlotte‘s piercing gaze met Tina’s. To Tina it felt as if Charlotte was peering to the darkest depths, searching for the words that she could not express. Could the doctor see what was hidden in the dark? Could she read the words? Tina hoped so.

“You are all she thinks about.” Charlotte smiled sadly. In that smile she finished her statement: she loves you and you love her. Charlotte got into her car, hoping like ***** Tina caught that last part.

“Hello”

“I need your help!”

“What did you do?” Shane asked impatiently.

“Why do you assume that I did something?”

“Why else would you be is such a panic?”

“I resent the implication that I am a ***** up!”

This statement was followed by a pregnant silence.

            Finally Alice acquiesced, “Fine! I sent Charlotte to Tina to interview for a clinic position.”

             “Ok. So where is the problem?”

            Alice takes a deep breath. She knows that if she wants help she will have to tell Shane what she did. It was not going to be easy, so she would just tell her the whole thing as fast as possible. “I didn’t tell Charlotte who Tina was. I just told her she was meeting with a Ms. Kennard. I guess the interview went well because Tina called me to thank me. She and Charlotte are going on a date tonight. I can’t get a hold of either of them to stop them. If Bette finds out she will kill me. I think Tina really likes Charlotte. She giggled on the phone. Shane she giggled!” Alice was hysterical now. “I have to go to the restaurant and stop them from doing anything that will get me killed. Oh God! Tina giggled!”
