The Triangle of Love – Chapter 19

Dana: As I said, forever and a day.

Dana turned her head again so she could kiss Alice’s neck. It was a short, quick peck, but she could still feel and hear Alice sigh at the simple contact. Alice leaned back into Dana and they spent the rest of the night there, just holding one another, enjoying the view. Before they knew it, it was 12pm.

Dana: Al, I think we should get going. It’s late and we need sleep.

Alice: Yeah, and you need to be up for training.

Dana: No, I don’t. I cancelled training since I knew you were coming out of hospital.

Alice: What? You did that for me?

Dana: I told you, I’d do anything for you.

Alice: You didn’t have to do that. I was wondering why you weren’t freaking out about getting up late.

Dana: I did need to do it Al. I want to be there for you. When you’re back on your feet, you’ll need to begin your routine, so I can train then. And as long as I’m with you, I’ll never freak out about getting up late.

    Alice: Come on, let’s go.

Dana lifted Alice up from the ground and sat her in her chair. She picked the blanket up, shook off any dirt that may have been on it and wrapped it around Alice as she looked a little cold. Alice smiled at her and lifted her hand to rest on the back of Dana’s neck. She looked into her eyes before pulling her down to her for a kiss. It was another of their short, love filled kisses. No tongues, just love. Dana pulled back and smiled at Alice, before wheeling her back down the trail. The car ride home was quiet, but comfortable. Alice was holding Danas free hand while she was driving, while staring out of the window as if she was in a movie. Around 10 minutes later, they were outside Dana’s house, their home. Once they were inside, Alice had her medication, brushed their teeth and went to bed. Alice was laid on her back with Dana draped across her. Alice’s right arm was wrapped around Danas shoulders and Dana had placed her arm across Alice’s stomach, so she could begin those comforting movements that helped them both fall asleep. While Danas was stroking Alice’s stomach, Alice decided to thank her.

Alice: Thanks for doing this today, Dane.

    Dana: The trail?

Alice: Yeah, and the rest. I really appreciate it. I don’t think I’d want anyone else to help me through this.

Dana: I wouldn’t be anywhere else, Al. like I said, I don’t see it as a job, I want to do it. And as for the trail, I should thank you.

    Alice: Thank me?

Dana: Yeah. I’ve been there many times before, and now, I finally got to share it with the one I love. I would never have thought of going there.

Alice: Oh. It really was beautiful, Dane.

    Dana: Just like you.

Alice blushed and looked away. She loved when Dana called her beautiful. She began to feel her eyes closing, so she made sure she got one last kiss from Dana before falling asleep. Within minutes, Alice was snoring and Dana found herself staring at her girlfriend. ‘God, she’s beautiful’ she thought to herself. She kissed Alice on the cheek and saw the corners of Alice’s mouth lift up slightly, as if smiling in her sleep. ‘I love you’ she said one last time before falling asleep, loving her life more than ever.
