Helena’s mouth dropped open with disbelief. “What?” she smiled at Alice,
“And if you want to come in, try knocking and asking for permission.” Alice continued, ignoring Helena.
“As…as you wish…darling,” Helena stuttered in shock, getting up to head out.
“Oh, one more thing Helena,” Alice said, not bothering to look up from her laptop.
“Yes dear?” Helena asked meekily.
“My name is Alice or Ms. Pieszecki or even Mrs. Porter would do, not dear, not darling and certainly not honey. Only Bette gets to refer to me using those endearments. And yes, I am all set to fly to LA tonight with Bette. Thanks for this opportunity—it is our anniversary and we will actually get to spend some time together while I am on assignment. I will see you once I get back.”
Helena stepped out of the office, completely embarrassed, frustrated, jealous and enraged. She would have to take care of Bette the good old way and soon.

Friday Night, the Met Opera
The harmonic suspensions kept them on their toes, kept them yearning for completion as one act followed another complete with trust, treachery, passion, compromise, romance and tragedy.
When Act I finished with Tristan (tenor) and Isolde (soprano) desperately declaring their love for each other as they faced what they thought was their last hour, Bette turned to see Tina teary-eyed.
“T? Are you alright?” Bette asked, fishing for her initialed handkerchief and handing it to Tina who took it and blew her nose, handing it back to Bette.
“You can keep that,” Bette said, scrunching up her nose in mock disgust.
“Wasn’t that beautiful?” Tina said, pointing to the stage.
“Very beautiful,” Bette said, looking pointedly at Tina, who caught on and blushed before poking Bette in the ribs.
“Ouch…I see we are moving to new geographical locations, how about a little higher T or maybe a bit more down South?” Bette joked, which just earned her a swat from Tina.
“Do you want something to drink or eat before the next Act?” Bette asked.

You are forgiven, but don’t allow Bette to sleep with Alice because I emotionally can not handle it, ewww. Still waiting for B/T to hook up…feel like I am watching TLW (S3 &S4);). Patience is a virtue that I seriously lack. Great story!!! PPS
Ok so now they need to admit it to one another and then get rid of they’re prospective ball and chains to be together…easy right?? lol PPS

Wow Maverick, that was a beautiful chapter! I love the opera, and seeing it reflected in the emotions between our ladies was just perfect. One request…I don’t think I can take any Bette and Alice or Tina and Eric sex!! They need to realise whats right for them. A bit of a swap would be fine, that way noone gets as badly hurt and B&T are left to be happy together! Although I trust in you and the handling of them, and your ability to bring us good drama!
Well, at least Bette has admitted it to herself and they have more or less aluded to it in their thinking especially at the opera. Now it is up to Tina to admit it to herself, and I think that’s what the tears are about. She iscoming to grips with it in her mind at this moment. Wonder how she will square it in her mind because it will be a monumental occurrence in her thoughts when she finally realizes what has just occurred in her mind. Can hardly wait to see how you bring this to us. Please tell me you’ve already written the next couple chapters because it will take at least hat long for them to get their heads around it. I can’t believeeither o them will make love with their spouses after the night at the opera. This is gonna be very interesting. Wondrful update. PPS

I am in wonder at how Bette finally realized the truth of her love for Tina. Now I hope she doesn’t try to force herself to fix her marriage in some penance, but instead frees Alice from the prison they have created for one another.

Wow, what a journey through that magical place, but you know I am a little frustrated because of their situation, I mean how can they still be with their partners and working on something that is not going to work while they know where their true feelings are? I mean how can Bette try to initiate intimacy with Alice and Tina with Eric when they know that this is not the person that they should share themselves with. Are both of them acting out of obligation???? Thank you so much for posting and for being such a wonderful and talented writer. Love

WOW ! This is such an amaaaaazing story, Maverick ! To be honest with you, when I clicked the ” leave a comment ” button and got asked to enter my user ID and password, I couldn’t even remember them at all. I felt completely lost. I was so deeply engrossed in reading this fabulous story of yours I was a million miles away from such practical and down-to-earth reflections. Truth be told, for a minute there I couldn’t tell who I was or where I was and I swear I can’t think of another time such thing ever happened to me when reading fan fic. It actually took me a few minutes to come down from my “trip”. Anyway, I only discovered your fic three or four days ago, Maverick, but I got immediately and completely hooked up on it. I just love everything about it : the slow-burn of course, but also the delightful descriptions of the characters’ thoughts, the witty banter between these two, the way the dialogue flows, the characters’ personalities ( I love, love, love your cynical, blasée, arrogant, yet so utterly endearing Bette ), all of them. In fact, I think it’s great that you didn’t turn Alice and Eric into assholes or dummies because it shows much better how much B and T were meant to be and it makes B and T’s inner conflicts and struggles all the more interesting. I can sense this is only the beginning of the real drama, isn’t it ? In other words, I LOVE THIS STORY and I can’t wait for you to udpate it. I’m sooo completely addicted !
Ahem… ( blushing ) Of course what I meant was that I’m completely “hooked ON” your story, not “UP”… This must be one of those Freudian slip, huh ? ( lol ). Oh, and I also wanted to add that I’m actually kinda glad that you mentioned a summer break because I’ll be leaving on holidays on august, 1st too, so… If you could just post your next two installments by next friday… Yeah, I know I’m slightly demanding ( LOL ! ). Anyway, I realize I haven’t even thanked you yet for this amazing gift of a fic, so thank you so so much for sharing this great story with us.
Mav…this chapter was so beautifully written. I agree with everyone ahead of me in leaving a comment. It simply took my breath away to see the depth of their love for one another expressed so beautifully in words. I could imagine myself at the opera watching the two of them together. I hope the run goes well because I can’t wait for the next update. Please let them find a way to each other before the summer recess…
