    In the final chapter of this FanFic, Carmen’s secret is revealed and Shane and her daughter are put to the ultimate test…survival!

     

    Carmen: I love you baby, we both do. Never forget that.

     

    Carmen set the note down on Shane’s end table, with a picture of their family. Carmen loved that picture, it was taken in the winter when in LA it was cold enough to wear a spring jacket. Alex was standing in front of Carmen and Shane with a huge smiled on her face and basketball in hand. Shane was behind her with Carmen on her arm, holding her tightly and the other arm on Alex’s shoulder. She was looking down at Alex. She had never seen her wife so happy then when the three of them were together. And there she was, being held by her love and her daughter looking up at her, and Shane, smiling. The tears flew heavily as she turned to walk out, stopping just before the door and looking back.

     

    Carmen: You guys are the lights of my life.

     

    Then she turned around, and walked away.

     

    A couple hours later, Shane woke up and looked beside her. Alex was sitting in the chair at her bedside, breaking down. Shane looked up, confused and said in a low, husky voice.

     

    Shane: Alex, what’s wrong?

     

    Alex: She’s gone. She left us mom!

     

    Alex looked up at her, and Shane saw that look again. Now she started to panic.

     

    Shane: Where’s your Madre?

     

    Alex: I don’t know, she left, she left us.

     

    Shane: What? She’d never!

     

    Alex handed her the letter and Shane grabbed it and started to read it.

     

    Dearest Shane and Alex,

     

    I hope you are both alright, but I cannot live with myself knowing that if you aren’t it is my fault.

     

    Shane looked up.

     

    Shane: Why is it her fault.

     

    Alex: Keep reading.

     

    I want you to know that I love you both very much this is why I can’t bare to be with you now when I know I have caused so much pain. The fire was started because I left the burner on. The box of Kraft Dinner caught fire. I also didn’t notice on the calendar that the batteries for the smoke detectors needed to be changed. A fireman told me this as well that our home is destroyed. I am sorry I leave you in such distress. Shane, take good care of our daughter. She’s the one that pulled you out of that fire, she ran back in. I would have done so myself but she wouldn’t let me. Alex found out my secret and forbid me to do so.

    5. what! how can it just end like that? Shane can just know that carmen is “in the past.” it’s a really great story and I really hate to see it end this way. Happy birthday

    6. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BABY-GIRL!!!!!!!I love this story it fuckin’ kick ass!! I really don’t want to see this end . . . and so sadly :( . . . Shane can’t just let Carmen go like that . . . I have faith that those two are gonna’ find each other with Alex’s help, of course!! I’m excited for this sequel, don’t keep us waiting for too long!! Good luck with that movie, I’m sure it’s gonna’ be off the fuckin’ chain!!! And again, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!”, and like always, LYLAS ;-p

    8. Happy Birthday TODAY WAS amazing had lots of fun hope u liked ur presants um i liked the last chapter but HATE you for making me wait to read them 6 fucking hours its just not nice ARHHH and after that awesome present and everything… HAPPY B-DAY
