Traced in the Stars: Chapter 20-A Home Turned Upside Down
Alex: I love you mom.
She walked out of the window, feeling a flame start on her shin and just kept walking. She walked around to the front of the house.
Carmen watched the home crumble under the flames. The fire trucks were just down the street as she saw a tall slender figure walking her way, the fire blazing behind her. She soon saw Alex’s blood covered face and her arms that held Shane firmly around her shoulders. Alex had a look of pure determination on her face as she walked away, getting her mother away from the danger. When she felt they were far enough, she collapsed on the ground, putting out the flame on her shin that had scalded away most of the skin. She layed there, wincing in pain as Carmen walked over to the two, crying. Alex looked up, there it was, her home completely blazed with flames. She all of a sudden felt completely alone. Until, she noticed her Madre’s warmth. She finally felt safe.
Carmen: Oh my god! Alex, you did it!
Carmen hugged her and Alex grunted in pain.
Carmen: Oh my god you’re hurt bad!
Alex: Madre, I’m fine.
Alex looked over at her mother and noticed the blood mixed with ashes on her face. Alex envisioned her getting out of bed, not expecting the smoke then falling over and smacking her face off the end table. She crawled over and smoothed her hair while crying.
Alex: Mom?
Carmen cried and rubbed Alex’s arm as the Fire men and Paramedics did their job. Alex had a mask strapped to her face as she cried over her mother until both were put into stretchers and into ambulances. Carmen went to get in Alex’s ambulance.
Alex: No, Madre go be with mom!
Carmen: Alex!
Alex: She needs you more than I do, I’ll be fine.
Alex winced as the paramedic stuck a needle into her. Alex looked up and smiled as she noticed the paramedic was a beautiful woman with flowing brown hair.
Alex: See, I even have female companionship!
The paramedic smiled and Carmen actually chuckled. She loved how Alex could make her laugh, no matter how tough things were. Carmen kissed her forehead.
