Train to nowhere
Bette couldn’t help but give her a proper smile, her bubbly energy giving Bette a hint of happiness. “I’m Bette, pleasure to meet you Tina. I’ve lived here most of my adult life. I’m sure you’ll find some great friends. I’m on here at this time every day of the week and at 7pm on the way back too, so I’m sure I’ll see you if you’re also sticking to this time?” Bette spoke the most she had spoken in such a long time. Even with Alice, she only gave her small talk. Tina nodded, her blonde locks bouncing a little “yes, I’ll probably see you every morning and evening unless I’m held up for meetings… I guess you’re my new train partner, if you’re cool with that?” She question, giggling slightly which made Bette’s stomach flutter.
“Train partners?… perfect” Bette stated, giving her another genuine smile. “So, where are you heading? I’m guessing work?” Tina questioned, clearly making small talk which was probably the worst for Bette. ‘Shit’ Bette thought to herself, she couldn’t tell Tina the truth. “I work at an art gallery… I love it, honestly. Art is everything to me, I could go on about it forever….What about you?” She questioned as Tina smiled. The blonde couldn’t help but melt at the way bette spoke, clearly passionate about her work, something she admired tremendously. “I’m a producer, I haven’t done anything major yet but hopefully this new job will lead up to something exciting and give me, my big break” Tina spoke.
Bette hummed at the thought. A producer. She didn’t really care for movies but she could imagine how stressful Tina’s job was. She was clearly talented, something bette was drawn to. “Oh- this is my stop. I guess I’ll see you this evening?” Tina spoke, pulling Bette out of her day dream. Bette quickly nodded “tonight- yes- it was nice meeting you, Tina” she replied, making Tina give her a warm smile. “Bye Bette, see you later!” She said with a grin, standing up and making her way to the exit of the train.
Now all Bette could do was wait till 7pm. She hoped the woman would be there, waiting for her. She had been so invested with the blonde that she had completely missed her old home… for the first time, Bette didn’t care.
