    Liar liar pants on fire, thought Tina as she tried to gage Bettes reaction to that. Bette didnt seem upset by that answer but Tina wasnt totally convinced that it didnt dawn on Bette that she was there to see her. Bette kind of cleared her throat awkwardly before speaking.

    Well umwhat are your plans out here?

    I dont know. I wanted to just relax, see the sightsmaybe do a little shopping.

    Bette chuckled a little at this last remark. Tina was not a true shopper by nature, but when you got her on a roll watch out. Tina knew Bette caught her mini lie so she covered it up best she could.

    Yeah Mom and Lauren read about some big store opening here so they made me promise to check it out.

    Oh I see. Great.

    Ask her to join you, thought Tina as she thought about how she would have to find some ridiculous store that was new to New York that Bette had yet to hear about. Yeah right.

    Hows your work schedule been?

    Crazy as usual. I swear New York is just like LA.

    Really?

    Say no say no! is all Bette could hear in her head. Say no because you Tina are not there and without you nothing is the same. Say its horrible here and you want to go home. Say something!!!

    Tina tried to hide the disappointment in her voice but she failed miserably. Bette looked at Tina with some confusion on her facebecause after all didnt Tina say she was in New York to see the sights and not her? Bette just shook her head in wonder.

    Well I dont want to bore you too much with details during your first trip outumwell I was wondering

    Tina looked at Bette with an expectant smile on her face. She had a feeling that Bette was going to ask her to dinner and for a split second Bette was but she decided not to rush things. If she even had a chance at getting Tina back she had to take things slow. She decided a roundabout way would be better.
