Bette lifted her head and kissed Tina deeply and passionately. The kiss was different from their previous making out. Earlier they had been playful and sexy but this one was intense and desperate and communicated so much without a word ever being spoken. Tina kissed her back with the same intensity knowing that it was her actions that caused the rift between them.

Bette had given into Tina’s wishes for the forced separation but it pained her to do so. Tina realized too late the hurt she’d caused. Seeing Bette’s raw vulnerability was a wake-up call and she was now prepared to do whatever was needed to get them back on solid ground. Pulling away and fighting her own tears, Tina looked into Bette’s eyes and mouthed “let’s go home babe.” Hand in hand they left the dance floor, walked out of club and continued across the lobby to the double doors that led outside. Their chauffer pulled up seconds later.

The doorman opened the car door and Tina got in first sliding to the far corner of the back seat. Once they settled in and the doorman closed the car door Tina invited Bette to lay her head in her lap. The privacy screen between the driver and passengers remained in place. There was an intercom in case they needed to communicate but there was no need for this ride. The chauffer knew to take them back to the hotel. Otherwise they could control everything else from the back of the limo including the heater and music; both of which they turned on low.

Looking up at Tina from her reclining position Bette smiled shyly and wiped the dampness from her cheek. “Sorry about that. I’m not sure what came over me in there.”

“I think I know.” Tina’s voice was soothing as she pushed Bette’s hair back out of her face. “And you don’t need to apologize.”

Bette was so thankful that Tina understood so that her next statement needed no explanation. ”Will you let me be the one you love more Tee?”

“Babe I could only love you more. I promise from now on things will be different. I’ll never lose sight of us again.”

“I was so scared that I’d lost you.” Bette admitted as once again the vulnerability surfaced.

“Don’t be scared baby. I’m right here. We’re together and nothing is going to come between us ever again. Not work, not distance. Being together with you and Alex is what I dream about. I love you.”

“I love you too. More than you’ll ever know.” Bette responded.

Tina supported Bette’s head as she raised up to be kissed then settled back down. Tina leaned back against the headrest and closed her eyes as she continued to caress Bette’s scalp. They rode the rest of the way in silence.

It wasn’t long before they arrived at the hotel. It was just past midnight by the time they got to Tina’s room. She’d just started a bath for them when her phone signaled a text message. Sally responded that she’d gotten confirmation from Aaron, William and Kate to meet the following afternoon. She’d reserved a conference room in the hotel for 2pm.
