“What’s going on Agent Porter?” Tina asked truly concerned.

“Do you trust me Ms. Kennard?” Bette asked barely above a whisper as she leant slightly forward and placed her head right above Tina’s shoulder.

“Yes…” Was all the blonde could mutter as she felt the brunette’s warm breath cascading near her ear, sending shivers down her spine.

“Good… I need you to come up with a simple and believable reason to take Misses Peabody out of her office” Bette said still in the same position and still whispering.

“Yes…” Tina muttered again feeling her heart beat increasing its rhythm.

“Thank you” Was the last thing Bette said before removing herself from the proximity of the blonde’s neck, a place the brunette enjoyed being at maybe a little bit too much.

Twenty minutes later all of them were standing in the first level of the parking lot.

“What are we doing here?” Helena asked a bit annoyed.

“Good there’s our transportation” Dana said as she saw the three black polarized Range Rovers approaching.

“We will answer your questions in time Ms. Peabody” Shane said in her usual calm way. “Come with me please” She added as they both hopped into one of them and so did Alice and Dana in the following one.

“You’re travelling with us Peggy” Bette said and opened the back door for the two women to get in.

One hour later they were all standing in an FBI’s briefing room that had been sealed and checked by no other than the three agents.

“Ok… now please tell us what the hell is going on?” Alice asked impatient.

“Please let’s all take a seat and I’ll explain everything to you” Bette calmly said and everybody, including herself, did as was told. “I believe your offices are tapped” The brunette said as soon as they sat down.

“What the hell?! How do you know?” Helena was the first one to ask.

“I was having a conversation on the phone with our Assistant Director and that’s when I heard it, that interference that is so characteristic” Bette explained.

“But that doesn’t mean anything, I speak on my cell phone every single day there and there is not any interference… how could you be so sure to yank us out of our offices like this?” Helena kept on asking.

“You see our phones are not like regular cell phones, they are prepared to not be intercepted and they start getting this interference noise whenever we’re picking up other transmissions” Dana gently answered.

“Right now there’s an undercover team that specializes in cleaning up, they will bring here what they recover from your offices. I’m sorry for disturbing you but this is the only safe place where we can talk right now and tell you all this” Bette said apologetically.

“And what was it with all that drama of meeting at the parking lot and leaving in separate cars? What was that all about?” Alice said still exasperated.

“Well Ms. Piezc… I mean Alice… whenever we determine that your integrity might be compromised the first step is to get you out of there and what you saw today was one of the routes of evacuation” Dana calmly explained, looking straight into Alice’s eyes like trying to soothe her. “We took you in separate cars because being in the same vehicle all four of you makes you an easier target. And also to create a diversion, since each of the cars took a different route to get here and no one knew in which car either of you were”

“Smart thinking” Alice just commented feeling like a complete idiot after hearing the very logical explanation. She sensed right then that not only these people were the real deal but that they would probably never do anything irrational, stupid or impulsive. Everything had a reason and a procedure for these women and they seemed exceedingly good at following it.

“Tina are you ok?” Bette asked concerned as she noticed how quiet the blonde was.

“Yes… yes I’m just… I’m just wondering how much damage to this case this could do. Especially if they’ve been listening to what we’ve been saying all this time, then we’ll just… have to start from scratch” Tina said really pensive, realizing the implications of this.

Bette just remained silent for there was nothing she could really say in a situation like this.

“Oh Jesus…” Helena muttered while Alice sank her face on her hands, not wanting to believe what was just happening.
