    Chapter 3 – friends and phone calls

    Lt. Porter attended briefing in a better mood than she had been in for months.  She could not seem to keep the smile from her face.  This did not go unnoticed by her troops. 

     

    “Hey Ramirez, you see the change in LT’s mood?  I think she got lucky last night” Officer Bradley joked with her.

     

    “Is that right Lu?  Did you finally meet Ms. Almost Right?” Ramirez chimed in.

     

    “Can it guys.  Or you’ll all be on foot patrol around the square” Lt. Porter answered them her voice stern, but she grinned after she said it so they knew she was kidding.

     

    After briefing, she phoned her best friend and most trusted ally.  She and Alex had worked together as partners for years before he left the PD to become a deputy with the county.  He was the one person she could trust with anything.  “Hey buddy.  What’s up?  Got a few minutes to meet me somewhere.”

     

    Alex was also on duty, so they arranged to meet at “the usual”.  When Bette pulled her cruiser up next to his, Alex started the conversation.  “I know you too well.  Something’s going on.  Spill it.”

     

    “I just met the woman I’m going to marry” Bette answered, with that dreamy look on her face.

     

    Alex almost choked on his drink.  “Say what?  Repeat that for me.”

     

    “Alex, I met the most wonderful woman last night.  I think she’s the one” Bette answered.  She went on to tell him all about Tina.

     

     

    While Bette and Alex were having their conversation, Tina was driving toward home and picked up her cell phone.  She called her roommate and best friend Jennifer.  “Hey Jen, you’ll never believe what’s happened.”

     

    From the lilt in Tina’s voice, Jennifer knew that she had happy news.  “Oh this is gonna be good.  Go ahead, I’m all settled in.”

     

    Tina related the story of the flat tire, their meeting and subsequent getting to know each other.  She talked to Jen until she got to her parent’s house.  “Well I guess I better go, I’m here.  Oh, I took a picture of Bette with my cell phone.  She’s in her uniform, I took it when she wasn’t looking.  I’m gonna send it to you to see what you think.  Text message me later ok?”

    5. OMG they are so cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute! “Did you get off on time last night?” Was anyone else expecting there to be a somewhat suggestive answer to that question? I was. ;)

    8. They both have it bad for each other. Sounds like Ms. Tina maybe in for a move to be close to Ms. Bette. Can’t wait to see what happens Sunday. Will Tina sleep in the guest room or in Bette’s private room? Post soon so I can receive the answers to my questions.

    11. Lament… girl, you’re so bad but in a good way. Oh, Lt. Porter, your gun is so big and you’re so beautiful and strong. You make Ms. Tina’s heart go pitter patter. Is it Sunday yet?
