What Becomes of the Broken: Brighton

"That was Joyce Wishnia, I presume?"

"Yes it was, and she agreed to represent you, if it should come to that. She’s going to call Catherine and her people and discuss this. If they want to take it to court, then that’s what we’ll do…"

"I doubt that would happen Bette. She wouldn’t dare be placed in a courtroom, not with all the dirty laundry I can pull up on her." Bette smiled, "My mum is behind me one-hundred percent. She can’t stand Catherine."

    "Well, that’s a good thing."

"Indeed." Helena pulled a sweater out of the closet and tossed it to Bette, "Come on, lets go."

    "Where to?"

"I’m taking you to a little place called Brighton."

    "And Brighton is?"

"The place where I grew up."

I was down in the Tube station

    At midnight

Bette and Helena decided to take the hour long train ride to Brighton from London. Bette loved the train and how interesting the people were. She loved spotting graffiti on the walls as they went past. She also found the English pound humorous. Bette said that you could never take any other type of money seriously if you were used to the United States dollar; countries’ currency was far too colorful. They took a cab to the apartment building Helena was raised in.

"A little humble for a Peabody, don’t you think?"

"My father wasn’t into living so extravangant. At least not like my mum. I spent half my time here, the other half at my mom’s estate. But that was only when I would go home. I went to boarding schools most of my life."

"So you never really saw your parents, then?"

"No, not really. But when I did see them, they made up for it. Drove me absolutely mad." Bette smiled and chuckled a little.

    "Where’s your dad now?"

"He passed away when I was twenty-five." Helena tucked her hands in the pockets of her sweater, "He would’ve loved you."

"You think?" They started to walk away from the apartment and down the street.

"I know he would. You’re headstrong, ambitious, witty, and you’re so bloody beautiful. He would’ve been putty in your hands. You seem to have that effect on Peabodys, dear." Bette began blushing slightly, "He would’ve fell for you right away. I want to take you to this place I used to use as a sanctuary, if that’s okay?"

    1. Ash how could you leave us hanging like this,,LOL!!! I loved it, $10 mil, that is alot, and that means that Helena is nolong a pauper, cool. I love that fact that they are quite honest with one another and helping each other. Now I can’t wait to see what our Alpha Bette Porter going to do to Donna..great chapter Ash

    2. Storing ten million bucks in Alice’s cupboard? Sometimes it seems that Helena does not inhabit Planet Earth, but of course that’s one of her endearing qualities! After recovering from her initial shock, Bette handled the revelation beautifully. I don’t expect Donna will faze her either.

    3. This story is so delicious. So much fun to read. I like how Helena makes Bette treat her as an equal. Now, Bette needs to get her alpha on when meeting w/Donna. Or just have Helena drape all over Bette at the pub/club. PPS.
