What Becomes of the Broken: Brighton
"Of course it’s okay." Bette stuck her hand out to grasp Helena’s.
Only a few blocks away was where the land met the ocean. They walked along the beach for five minutes until they came up to what appeared to be the remnants of a building. The stone was covered in slick, green moss. Helena began walking to what was left of the stairs. She held her hand out to Bette. Normally, Bette would’ve declined, but she didn’t. This was Helena, and Helena could’ve asked her to do anything and she would’ve. They climbed to the top, which was nothing but a bare floor, the walls completely gone. They sat at the end of the floor, their legs dangling over the edge. It looked out to the ocean, so blue and clear.
"It’s beautiful up here."
"I think so. I used to sit here for hours. Sometimes I’d write, sometimes I’d paint, sometimes I’d just sit and think."
"I didn’t know you wrote or painted."
"Yeah, a little."
"Were they any good? I’m sure they were."
"I don’t know. I’ll let you see and read them if you’d like to."
"I’d love to." Her dark eyes shone with something Helena couldn’t pin point. Bette was intrigued. Helena was like an onion to her. No, she didn’t stink or made her cry (at least she didn’t do it purposely). She had all these layers. Every time Bette would pull one layer off, another, more intriguing and beautiful layer laid beneath it. She wanted to know everything there was to know about Helena Peabody and she would keep peeling these layers until she did.
Helena felt her phone vibrating in her pocket. She pulled it out and didn’t recognize the number, but she knew it was local.
"Hello?"
"Helena."
"How’d you get this number, Donna?"
"Your mother is still very fond of me. The girls and I are going to the old pub. Will you join us? And bring your little girlfriend with you." Donna hung up.
"Who’s Donna?" Bette asked.
"The woman from last night. She wants us to go to the pub with my old friends. She actually requested that I bring you."
"Then maybe we should go." Helena could see the look in Bette’s eyes. It was that look that said "challenge me, I dare you." Helena knew this would be a very interesting night."

Bette and Helena are sweet together. Let the challenge begin. Time for Bette to put this chick in her place.
Oh, I can’t wait! Go Bette! Whoop. You know I adore your story. Thanks for posting. Angel Dx
I am so loving this. Bette is going to kick this Donna’s ass hard I hope. B&H are so sweet. Thanks PPS
Ash how could you leave us hanging like this,,LOL!!! I loved it, $10 mil, that is alot, and that means that Helena is nolong a pauper, cool. I love that fact that they are quite honest with one another and helping each other. Now I can’t wait to see what our Alpha Bette Porter going to do to Donna..great chapter Ash
Storing ten million bucks in Alice’s cupboard? Sometimes it seems that Helena does not inhabit Planet Earth, but of course that’s one of her endearing qualities! After recovering from her initial shock, Bette handled the revelation beautifully. I don’t expect Donna will faze her either.
This story is so delicious. So much fun to read. I like how Helena makes Bette treat her as an equal. Now, Bette needs to get her alpha on when meeting w/Donna. Or just have Helena drape all over Bette at the pub/club. PPS.
