“I got worried I received six missed calls from you.”

“Oh, I’m sorry no that wasn’t me Kate wanted to play some games on my phone she must have called you by accident.”

“Tash look Pepa Pig, “she says pointing at the tv.

“Yeah, I know, “she says smiling at her.

“Tash, what’s going on?”

“Oh, one of my friends wanted to do like a breakfast date with his wife so I volunteered to watch their daughter. They don’t get a chance to go out on their own often so——–.”

“You’re babysitting?”

“Yup, and loving every minute of it I mean for Kate to be so young she’s so smart and she’s a little goofball.” Hearing all of this for some reason unbeknownst to Alice she became silent. Tasha figuring she spoken too much hoped to change the tone of their conversation.

“Uh, so how are you? Are you at work?”

“Yeah.”

“Is it busy?”

“No.”

“How did you sleep?”

“Good, ”she responded coldly. The one word answers she was now receiving from her she knew immediately something was wrong.

“Al, is everything okay?”

“Yeah.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah everything is fine why?”

“I don’t know I just got a feeling like I said or did something wrong to upset you.”

“Look, I have a meeting to get ready for, “she says cutting her off, “I’ll call you later.”

“Okay I love you.”

“Yeah, okay bye, “she says hanging up the phone. Hearing the dial tone Tasha removes the phone from ear and stares at it.

“Yup, she’s pissed, “she says to herself. She knew Alice, although she wouldn’t acknowledge it she was upset but for life of her she didn’t know why. The tug on her pants leg pulled her from her thoughts. Looking down smiling back at her was Kate grinning from ear to ear displaying her orange stained teeth. Picking her up she carries her to the kitchen to wash her face and hands. Alice placing her head in her hands tries to make since of her behavior. Furthermore, she tried to understand why she couldn’t bring herself to tell her she loved her back or better why she being bitch lately. Looking at the clock she grabs her folder and notes and heads to her scheduled meeting.
