    What If- Chapter 4

The following morning when Alice walked into work she didn’t have the energy to address the stares and whispers she received. When she reached her office she immediately found the light switch shutting off all the lights. Turning her computer chair around she sits down in it placing her Starbucks coffee cup down on the desk then powering on her computer. As soon as the bright light appeared on her screen she raised both her hands in front of her trying to block the brightness.

“Oh, no I can’t do this……nope not now I can’t, I just can’t, “she says grabbing her coffee getting up out of the chair and flops down on the couch. Just as she bought her coffee to her mouth to take a sip her office door flies open.

“Alice OMG!” A startled Alice spills her coffee on her blouse.

“Melanie what the hell, “she says trying to wipe off the spilled coffee, “Do you not believe in knocking!?”

“I was worried and had to come see for myself OMG, it is true, “she says sitting next to her rubbing her knee.

“Uh, Melanie what is true? And secondly stop petting me do I look like a dog to you?”

“No, no you do not but I just wanted you to know I am here for you during this difficult time, “she says tearing up as she spoke Alice completely in shock can do nothing but stare at her awkwardly. (You know giving her the look you give the sidewalk when you turn around after tripping over it). Mistaken the meaning behind the confused look on her face Melanie saw it as a sign Alice needed further consoling reaching over she wraps both her arms around her neck rubbing her back gently.

    “Melanie.”

“Alice oh my dear sweet Alice everything is going to be okay!?”

    “Melanie.”

    “I’m here for you!?”

“Melanie, “she yells pushing her off her, “I think the pills are wearing off because your crazy is showing!”

“Wait no, I’m not crazy I just wanted to give my condolences.”

    “Condolences for what!?”

“For the death in your family.”

    “Nobody in my family died!”

    “Are you sure?”

    “Yes!”

“Then why do you look like shit and dressed in all black is this what’s in style now?

    1. Always a pleasure to read this story!

They should tell Alice that Dana is back, instead of trying to keep it a secret. Alice will feel so mad and betrayed over that.

      Thanks for the update!

    2. Great update.
Unfortunately, in one form or another Alice and Dana
can not fail to be reunited, both have the same
      unusual friends.
      All Stars.

    3. Oh my God, poor Alice, being left aside by her friends and Dana being put in second place by her girlfriend; if their feelings for their significative ones are not strong enough, they may go back to be together.
      Very nice chapter.
