Her whole demeanor changed as she sat and quietly hummed and rocked her son on her lap. The four grandmothers noticed her beauty, loving energies and quiet smile as she rocked Ozzie. Maxine couldn’t help but comment to her daughter. “Bette, motherhood suits you so well. You look so beautiful…”

“Thank you… It’s because of him. He is so full of love. Since he’s been in my life, everything has fallen into place and finally I love myself, unconditionally. It’s been such a long journey, but I’m grateful that I’m here. And now, I have my mom and siblings back in my life. It’s such a good place to be. Tonight has been such a blessing to me in so many ways. Thank you all.”

Maxine grabbed her daughter’s hand and kissed it as she beamed her megawatt smile similar to Bette’s. “You don’t know how important this evening was for me to get you and your sister back and to have a bonus with him, that sweet, sweet boy. He is love in the way he moves about the world. I can’t believe what an incredible little artist he is already. Has he always been that way?”

“Yes, he loves to go to the Met and other galleries about the city. Surprisingly, he loves to learn about it and then discuss it. Ozzie doesn’t always have the words to express himself but we work at it and he learns quickly. He still has his little boy moments, especially when he plays with his toys or the kittens at home, and he also loves to read and write and listen to music. He is my Angel boy and feeds my soul every day.

As hard as it was to lose my wife and friends, being here now is where I’m supposed to be. This moment is a blessing and I shall never forget it. Thank you all for contributing to that tonight. Lynn, Andrew, I look forward to getting to know the both of you better along with you, Peggy, Marilyn, Peyton, Quinn and your other sister and brother. I have to keep pinching myself to make sure I’m not dreaming, as this is all so surreal.

But… I hate to break this up, but I really should get the boy home, as he is quite tired. Having CP tires him because his body works so hard. She and Kit rose up, gathered their belongings, shared love with everyone and then slipped out and headed over to the brownstone to get Ozzie put to bed. He woke up in the taxi on the way home and was confused as to where he was. Bette calmed him with her words and kisses and he soon went back to sleep.

After arriving home, she changed him into his pajamas, he used the bathroom, brushed his teeth and as soon as his head hit the pillow, he was out. His mom and auntie kissed his sweet head while whispering their ‘I love yous’.
