    When Hope Is Lost

She shared with Allyn that Tina had been searching for her wife for many months and she was now wondering if she should let her know where she was. She also shared some information regarding Tina’s present life. Allyn placed her arm upon Peggy’s and looked her in the eye in such a way that Peggy knew that what she was going to say next was very important and she knew to listen to one of her best friends when she acted like this.

“Peggy, I think that we should just let the Universe work its magic right now as it sounds like Tina is trying to do some personal healing as is Bette. Maybe their breakup was for certain activities to take place first before they were brought back together. Knowing the situation as I do with Bette and her foster son, I know in my heart that they were supposed to meet and be together. Their connection is just so strong and meant to be. I hope that that makes some sense to you.”

“Yes, it sounds like it is. Watching Tina over these many years, I’ve always known that there was something deeper going on with her that was a wound. It doesn’t sound like she shared anything with Bette, which has come back around to bite Tina in the ass. I think she learned a valuable lesson from not being honest and upfront with her partner.

I don’t know why but your request sounds like I should really pay attention to it. Okay, I’ll hold off for now, but you might want to take Bette’s name off of your Web page as I know that her family members on the west coast are searching for her. And, if they find her too soon then the work that needs to be done may not happen as it should.”

“God, I forgot about that. You’re right! I’ll contact my Web Master ASAP and let them know to take it off. Thank you for sharing Joyce with her. Ozzie and Bette need to be together as family. Their connection is heaven sent I know. Let me know what the bill is so that I can take care of it.”

“Nonsense, it’s my treat. That’s why I have Joyce on staff and pay her a very nice monthly stipend. So, the other day on the phone, you mentioned the resemblance between Bette and Maxine. Do you think that they could be mother and daughter?”

“Yes, I asked Bette about her family in a round-about way and I truly believe that they are. The resemblance is just to close and I’ve noticed similar mannerisms in Bette that Maxine also has.

“So… when are you going to let Maxine know that you have her daughter under employment with you at the gallery?”

“Yes, I know… another tricky situation. I know that with what Bette has experienced with Tina before arriving in New York, letting her know now about her long-lost mother might be a bit too soon for her heart to handle the information. We have a big show coming up with four new artists and I think that that will be the appropriate time to let them both in on the secret. Don’t you think?”

“Well, thinking about your words and how much sense they make, I think you’re right. I’d love to be able to see the expressions on their faces that night when they first see one another.”

“Play your cards right and I’m sure you’ll have front row seats. I’m going to need yours and Marilyn’s support with this one. Thank you!”

“You know you always have our support for anything that you need it for. We haven’t been best friends since college days for nothing. You know that Marilyn and I love you both so deeply.”

“As we feel about both of you!” Allyn said as the two best friends shared a nice long hug.

    Comments

    1. Loving the direction this story is taking. Now with Maxine about to re-appear in Bettes life as well its all very exciting.Just looking forward to that moment when they both meet again after such a long time and how Bette reacts….and at some point in the distant future the moment that Tina and Bette meet again.PPS

    2. Love how this story is coming together. Just wondering..are Allyn and Maxine together? Can’t quite figure out the conversation with Peggy and Allyn about where Maxine fits in! Please post soon…

    3. Im so interested to see how tina and bette will meet again. 1st i thought it would b thru peggy but thats not happening anytime soon. Then i thought thru kit with email but that didnt happen either. Cant wait for them to meet again and what circumstance. Pps

    4. Hmm, seems like Allyn and Peggy are playing with people’s lives a bit; deliberately taking Bette’s name off the gallery’s website is them engineering things, not letting the Universe work its magic. And if Allyn knows Maxine, well… A possible very painful reunion is not meant to be a spectator sport. There’s also a good chance that Bette may miss the birth of the baby, but that’s information for Tina to relay. I’ll just have to wait and see how everything unfolds. Thanks for posting.

    5. Still reading and waiting for the tide to turn in this story. I’m rooting for them, I really am but I can’t help my dislike for Tina. You are the first writer to make me not like Tina but continue to read. Amazing, thank you bumsue and happy new year ✌😁

    6. I’m smelling some drama brewing in the air… I feel bad that Bette might not be there when Tina gives birth to their baby but i hope that things will be alright between them eventually, however i still believe that Tina has to earn her spot in Bette’s life. NO matter how long it will take I’m in for the ride, thanks Sue!

    7. YAY,YAY,YAY!!! What a wonderful chain of events. When I was reading yesterday or whenever it was(I have the flu I think) my one question for Allyn was how did she know Maxine. Now I think I know, from the conversation between Peggy and Allyn it seems as they are partners. From your typing hands to Gods’ ear. I only hope when Bette gets to meet her mother again that she won’t go off on her but try and understand the circumstances that Maxine was going thru at that time. Hopefully with these sessions that Bette is experiencing she will have a softer attitude toward her mother. You have answered a number of my questions with this chapter. Please conntine the great writing.
