Wherever You Go, There You Are

Hearing Shane’s explanation only raised more questions for Bette but it did kick her mind into gear.  Pulling back from Shane Bette had recovered enough to have a grip on her emotions but just a fragile grip.  Looking her good friend in the eye Bette signaled to Shane she was OK.

Shane then began the introductions, “Bette thanks so much for seeing us on such short notice.  I have a young woman here that I don’t know a lot about but I have a good feeling about here.”  At this Shane turns to Angelica, reaches out to her arm.  Pulling her in close Shane can tell Angelica is still wide-eyed, she is starring at Bette as if she’s seen a ghost.

“Bette this is the young woman I mentioned on the phone.  Bette Porter I would like to introduce you to Angelicaaaaaa ….” Shane stretched out Angelica’s name and then paused.  She leaned forward in an effort to coax Angelica’s last name out of her.

The trick worked, Angelica seemed to snap to and answered instinctively, “Kennard.”

Tina hung up from her office exasperated.  She had taken the opportunity to check in while she was driving up highway 5 from San Diego to LA.  While they seemed to hear the words that her daughter was missing the meaning appeared to be lost on them.  The expectation for Tina to solve every little problem remained in place despite her personal emergency.  Well for once Tina wasn’t going to solve their every little issue.  They were just going to have to sink or swim on their own.  She had advised them on the right course of action.  For a change they were going to have to act like responsible adults and follow it.

Traffic was lighter than she expected so she was making good time.  If the current pace kept up she will be in Los Angeles in less then an hour.  The time in the car gave Tina a chance to think in more positive terms then last nights emotional roller coaster.  The monotonous routine of driving seemed to calm her ragged nerves allowing her mind to not be so emotionally attached.

She was thinking back to the last year between Angelica and herself.  There had been many more arguments but not more than normal.  All the little rows, the arguments that many time initiated over little things that Angelica would build into big mountains.  Could all of those incidents have been warnings signs that Tina somehow missed?  Subtle signs that any experienced parent would observe and realize where the path was leading.  Could she really say that she knew what was going on in her little girl’s head right now?  Maybe if she had better understood what really was going on with Angelica she would not be in this car at this moment driving to LA in a desperate attempt to find her.

    1. In some stories when the author is leading us up to something big, it is hard to concentrate on the story itself because we are waiting for the big bang. But, you are such an incredible story teller that I don’t find myself reading over something quickly because I am waiting for what is going to happen in the future, I find that I can enjoy every moment, every element one word at a time. Thank you! Oh, and I think you have it backwards. In our frindship you are Yoda, I am just soaking it all in. :)

    2. This story is getting better and better as I read on. You are very talented. I love how you explain the feelings that these people are feeling right now. It’s just amazing. I really can’t wait for Angelica to start asking questions, but not too soon though. Can’t wait for the new chapter of this emotionally story. Thanks!

    3. This is a wonderful story and the recognition between Bette and Angelica is just breathtaking. Can hardly wait for Tina to see Bette again and see the two of them together to see how much alike they really do look. My prayer is that Bette and Tina can let go of the past and concentrate on the present and the future of them all. As a serious TiBette fan, I always want them together. Please let them forgive each other and get on with creating a new life and family. PPS

    4. Well damn, on page 1 with Kennard in the last paragraph…, and on page 3 with Kennard in the last paragraph… You know this is excrutiating reading. But in the best way! This is turning into what I believe will become an epic! Great tangled web, and I have no doubts that Tina won’t turn up at the BP Gallery or come face to face with Bette for at least…, oh another 20 chapters. x

    5. The eyes, the portal to their owners’ heart and soul. Mother and Daughter finally meet and see each other in the mirrored eyes. Does Angelica carry any part of Bette’s name?

    6. Unbelievably awesome incredible chapter – the timing of the various perspectives and the discovery and questions swirling simultanteously – brilliantly written. If you can’t tell I really really liked it.

    7. I was so happy to see that you had posted. This is amazing Jwet! So wonderfully written. Can’t wait too see when Tina comes across Bette. But knowing you, that’ll be ages. LOL! :)

    8. I loved this chapter !!! We were totally in the character’s minds, evolving with them. Brilliant!!! I can’t wait for the next chapters, i’m sure you’re gonna take a while to make the girls reconnect but you’re right… Let us enjoy !!!Thanks for posting !!!

    9. am just loving this story. thank god bette just didnt blurt something out like, OMFG!! am very interested in seeing how tina/bette/angie get introduced. thanksgiving, hmmm. should be interesting. i really need to call you and catch up. thanks.

    10. Hey JWet, See I back to being religated further down the list of commenters. Cozy here. So this last chapter sizzled as Bette and Angelica finally met. The air was palable with excitement. Even James was bowled over by this young vision before him. Loved how Shane quickly explained her panic and soothed Bette. Having Tina’s meditations separating these different points of view was inspired. I do hope taht you continue soon as I am on tenderhooks waiting to see what Bette and Angelica will say to each other. Will Angelica find out the truth about her mother and Bette’s past? Will Bette go along wiht the ruse and provide a haven for Angelica until her mother arrives? Will Bette or Shane contact Tina to explain where Angelica is? SO many questions and so little time. Many thanks for this wonderful writing and magnificent melodrama. Your Loyal Fan.

    11. i don’t know where this story going in terms of B&T but i’m loving every moment of that, and now, as mama and daughter met and tina’s on her way, this is going to be even more intriguing and exciting…thanks PS. i’m no tease l)

    12. First, thank you for the wonderful post. I’m thinking I don’t know what I would do if I were Tina. She has been a good mother and done the best she could as a single mom. My heart breaks for her. My only hope is that while Bette may feel mad, upset, hurt or whatever at the realization that she had a daughter she didn’t know about and may be mad at Tina, she will also put herself in Tina’s position and realize the worry and panic she must be feeling. Maybe this will help if/when they finally meet again. You know I’m a tibetter and want to see them together again. It will be a long and hard road, but although so many years have passed I believe the three of them can still be a family again. PPS!!!! :)

    13. I hope Bette has a strong heart…this is enough to give anyone a heart attack…I’m so excited to see what you have in store for us and how this is going to play out….thank you!!

    14. See, I told you, I’m right here waiting and look what pops up, thank you, thank you, thank you, I bow to you. and will be right here waiting with baited breath for the next installment, really do take your time, I will always wait. Now I have to go read the story and I’m sure I can say in advance is great. Ty. Md

    15. Poor Tina; she will always wonder if she did her best by Angelica; especially if she felt Angelica “ran away” as opposed to just be a little rebelious. Can’t wait for the reunion of Tina with Bette, Tina with Alice, Tina with, well, the rest of the family. Can’t wait for the story to continue. Thank you.

    16. Oh geez I must be tired. I meant exciting and sad, poignant at one & the same time; Tina rushing to LA is good especially if my TiBette heart is satisfied with a reunion. They need each other more than ever now & Ange needs Bette to guide her thru the turbulence of adolescence coupled with her biracial identity. Tina has to have support thru this and Bette really needs her family back. Do u hear me?!!! Lmao.

    17. This is both sad and poignant at the same time. Of course I’m loving it. Thank u and plz pretty plz post soon. Trust all is well with you and yours. Fond regards!!!!!

    18. Great…Great chapter again, my dear! Bette and Angelica…I can´t wait to see the moment when the third part of this triangle, find what is happening! And thanks for your kind and generous words on the note, darling.

    19. I love how you described what were going thru in their minds. Thank you for your patience and talent to develop this moment how Bette and Angelica met at the very first time. Can’t wait for your next chappy. PPS.

    20. Thank you for this wonderful story, yeah I am a T/B fan and want them together. Wouldn’t this just do the trick? I can’t wait till they see each other…and a little selfish on how T will handle B’s health problems, Also wonder how Shane is going to take all this, she has been very protective of Bette..PPS

    21. j…..You’ve outdone yourself w/this story. I love how you’re weaving all of the threads together starting out w/seemingly unrelated storylines and gathering them up. PPS.

    22. hey, I just caught up. I find that I like to wait until you have a few chapters posted so I don’t have the agonny to waiting for you to post. I love how both Bette and Shane knew that Angie was Tina’s child.
