    Why

"What happened, the other night… It  was a mistake. It shouldn’t have happened."

I knew I had to talk to you the minute you walked away from Bella, but I saw you approach Jodi, and decided I’ll have to take the other route outside, so should Jodi decide to stay, I can still catch you. If you’re alone, I can still talk to you. Because I already know how much you hate this movie, and to have one of the actresses bring up that moment in your life, to ask you questions we haven’t even discussed ourselves… I knew I had to check on you.

And a part of that is to bring up the other night.

Unfortunately, in a way, it was… is? a mistake. A wonderful, earth-shattering mistake, and one I think of at every opportunity since it happened, but a mistake nonetheless.

"We just got caught up in a moment."

The way you stumble through that statement melts my heart.

"It’s just not going to happen again."

    "No. Of course not."

Must you answer and confirm so quickly?

"Are you… Are you sorry that it happened?"

Your question presents a conundrum. Am I sorry that you kissed me? No. Am I sorry that I kissed you back? No.

I’m sorry of being reminded of everything I had with you. In that one kiss everything – the past few years, our present – melted away, and for one stolen moment I felt everything I feel for you, all the feelings you evoke in me. And I know you felt it too.

I regret letting you get so close, that you can remind me of all that when there’s a possibility I can never have them all again. I’m sorry that by letting it happen you’ve confirmed my worst fears that cheating – even if it is with me – is something you are capable of doing again.

So am I sorry that it happened?

    "Yes. I am."

Your face, the way your beautiful eyes flicker and sadden as you acknowledge my answer breaks my heart, but I’m afraid of explaining my answer. It is a why you will never have explained, because you will never ask, and to say it will bring up the whys you do not have answers to, even though the questions and the answers have become trivial now. They are consequential, in the grand scheme of things.

    1. Definitely clever. We all know that after this B&T started an affair. Someone is going to get hurt (most likely). Am I still wanting B&T to be together permanently even though they are doing Jodi dirty? Yes. I am.

    2. Both needs to take time[They have for awhile] Now thing has change, but someone gets hurt, Their track record its good, Eric,Alice Helena, the girl in NY,Henry Brenda and all the in between. As much as I love Bette and Tina together. Let the go slow so it might stick this time for ever. thanks

    3. i’m with lamentamini on wanting B&T together thing…and once again: brilliant and amazing chapter, i’m always waiting for your stories and i’m never disappointed…thank you

    4. I’m a Tibetter all the way and I’m glad we’re getting to see them somewhat together this season. BUT, I think your Tina is more true to her character. I have to believe she would have an issue with not only Bette cheating, but being a participant. Love your insights Tiff. Hope to see more from you soon :)

    5. A thoughtful chapter from your poised metaphorical pen. Such explanations are in short supply on the show. I’m happy we have you to fill in the gaps. By the way, I was at an Avril Lavigne concert a couple years ago and there was a wide range of ages in the audience. I don’t think you gave anything away with the reference!

    6. Yes, we do know and loved it the entire time they were together on the screen. The pain that was Bette’s face as Tina said that she regretted the kiss and then the Pain on Tina’s face as Bette told her she loved jodi was heart wrenching. I wanted to reach out and push them together and force them into a room to work out what they really wanted to say.

    7. Very well written, it gaves more insight into that episode, they should really talk and Unfortunately we can’t see much of that happening in the show. Thanks

    8. tiff_duke, thank you. I would trade half if not all my attempts for any one of your well written stories. Reference to your age range impresses all the more. Again, thanks.

    9. Hey TD, I am completely blown away with your wonderful words here. Giving an honest explanation for a heart-breaking moment between these soul mates. Fear is potentially destroying their chance of a future together. Thank you for giving us all this insight into the paradox that BnT have become. Many. many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.

    10. Great stuff, thanks Tiff. And speaking of great stuff: ‘Bette caught Tina’s hand as the blonde turned to leave. “Wait.”…’ – Just in case you feel like continuing a certain “Long Walk” – just remember there are lots of us willing to join you. Thanks again! … ;-)
