She stares at the pills, mesmerized by them. The medication was for Dana, but now Alice has them. She fights the temptation as hard as she can.

Carmen has wrapped up another evening of being the D.J. Loading up her equipment in the Jeep, she has a visitor. It causes Carmen to stop, looking at who has arrived.

Carmen ”Lara…”

Carmen can tell that Lara has been through an emotional rollercoaster. The hurt and anguish is still fresh for her.

Lara ”Hi. …Um. You don’t mind me being here, do you?”

Carmen ”No.”

Carmen walks up to Lara, quickly wrapping her arms around Lara’s shoulders.

Carmen ”Of course not. I was starting to worry about you a little. …You okay?”

Lara shakes her head. Her voice signals defeat.

Lara ”No.”

Carmen holds Lara in place, with Lara receiving the hug, placing her arms at Carmen’s hips.

Lara ”…I’m exhausted. …I’m lost. And you’re the only one I know I can talk to.”

Carmen ”Al okay?”

Lara looks down momentarily before answering.

Lara ”She’s still having a rough time. Carmen…too much has happened and I feel like I’m about to snap.”

Carmen pulls back slightly, placing her hands at the side of Lara’s shoulders.

Carmen ”I know it hasn’t been easy, but…you can always…talk to me.”

Lara ”Not for long. Once you’re committed to Shane like that…she’ll deserve your undivided attention.”

Carmen ”That’s bullshit.”

Lara ”…No, it’s not. And I know she doesn’t like me. She doesn’t like me around you. ’Knight in shining
armor,’ and all that.”

Carmen shakes her head.

Carmen ”Is that why you’re here? Because we can always talk to Shane.”

Lara ”No. …She has every right to feel that way.”

Carmen ”No, she doesn’t.”

Lara ”She does. Carmen…”

Carmen and Lara let go.

Carmen ”What’s going on?”

Lara ”Alice and I are both still lost. I’m trying to help her as best I can. Ever since we took our stuff out of Dana’s…”

Lara pauses as Carmen looks on, concerned.

Lara ”They had sex.”

Carmen ”…What?”

Lara ”Alice and Dana had sex. …While I was working. Alice…she was in love with both of us. I refused…”
