The rest of the tour went smoothly, they arrived back home all heading straight to bed.

The next morning

Jess got out of bed coughing and holding her head. Carmen was still out for the count so Jess quickly left the room trying not to wake her. She walked into the kitchen taking a bottle of water from the fridge and taking a drink causing her to scrunch her face.

She walked upstairs and looked in Mason’s room, he was still asleep. She looked in Bette and Tina’s room Tina was asleep, Bette was nowhere to be seen. Jess went back downstairs just as Bette was coming in the front door.

“You’re up early” Bette smiled “I had to go get milk and bread”

“I got woke up in pain” Jess said and then covered her mouth

“Someone has a sore throat” Bette laughed

“It’s not funny Mama I sound terrible” Jess crocked “And it hurts, I can’t even swallow water”

“Let’s call the doctor and get you an appointment” Bette smiled

Jess sat down on the sofa, lifting the remote.

Bette lifted the phone calling the doctors as she went into the kitchen to put the bread and milk away. She came back into the lounge putting the phone back on the cradle.

“Sweetie they can see you in an hour so go get dressed and organised and I’ll take you” Bette smiled

Jess got up off the sofa doing as Bette asked, She creeped about the bedroom trying to find a reasonable outfit and not disturb Carmen at the same time.

Bette went upstairs to let Tina know what was going on. She lay on the bed gently shaking Tina.

“Baby, I’m popping out with Jess to the doctors she has a sore throat” Bette explained

“What…Is she okay?” Tina asked sleepily

“Yes she’s just in pain and we need to get it checked” Bette kissed Tina softly “Don’t worry we’ll be back before your properly awake”

“Ok” Tina yawned going back to sleep

Bette closed the bedroom door as she left the room going downstairs. Jess was sitting on the sofa with her hair tied back wearing Jeans and a tank top.

“The change in the weather is a shock to the system, it’s very warm outside” Bette explained lifting her keys
