You break it, you replace it – Chapter 13

“So Bette” Shane cleared her throat “How about that next round? I think you’re buying.”

“And how do you figure that?” Bette enquired, a smile slowly extended across her face

“Well, I figure that you make at least four times what I do, probably five, and well I’ve already bought a round so to even things out I’d say that my next five drinks are on your tab.” Shane grinned, obviously happy to see Bette back in the fold. Of course no-one was happier to be back with the group than Bette herself. Usually she would make Shane work a little harder before relenting but tonight Bette didn’t want to make deals or push limits. She’d checked all of that at the door, tonight was about time with those that mattered. She knew how much they had all supported Tina while she was unable and her gratitude went well beyond a few drinks but it was a place to start.

“Help me carry?” Bette asked. That was all Shane needed to get her up and clearing a path to the bar with Bette in tow.

“So what’s it going to be Slick? A screaming *****?” Bette laughed at the speed with which Shane dragged her to the bar.

“Nah, that comes later” Shane winked as they reached the bar.

“I’m sure it does” Bette smiled, looking to the floor but she can feel Shane’s eyes still on her.

“Things are OK right?” Shane asked, Bette looked up unsure of the correct response “With you and Tina, it’s working out?”

“Yeah…yeah we’re working on it” Bette replied slowly.

“I’m glad” Shane sighed “It was like being stuck in the Twilight Zone to have you guys apart. Besides I’d hate to have to choose whose place I was going to for Thanksgiving”

“There’s no contest there, everybody knows that Tina owns the kitchen”

“It’s not about food Bette, it’s…”

“What’ll it be ladies?” The girl behind the bar called over the music.

“A cosmo, three margaritas blended with salt, a Sam Adams and five shots of your finest tequila.” Shane smiled at the girl before turning back to Bette.

“It’s about family. The thought of the two of you not being together is like…***** I don’t know,” Shane shook her head “it’s just all kinds of wrong.”

    1. My question is why did Bette drag Tina away from Candance, it seems as though she was protecting Candance, not Tina, because she never said anything to Candance when she accused Tina of not being able to satisfy Bette. Just a thought.

    2. Here goes the dyke drama again. Hey, don’t get me wrong, I’m up for it, besides it’s not unrealistic to have Candace bumping up to them since they belong to the same nieche. And it’s sort of expected to happen.

    3. I am not sure about how exactly I feel aboyt this chapter. I suppose that it is realistic for them to of run into each other. I am not sur if Tinas’ reaction was totally accurate. but it is your story and you have the wheel. Just keep it realistic and it will read believeable. Thanks for this chapter, and for your time. Until the next one.
