You (Holy Crap, Part the Fortieth!)

After the Cantonese had arrived (much to Dana’s delight, Alice had ordered a bottle of Dr. Pepper to go along with her meal) and more talking had commenced, Kit decided that they may as well make it a real party and turned the music on. The dancing went on for an hour or two before Bette, Tina and Shane moved to leave, pleading work in the morning. They’d barely gone out the door when they moved immediately back in, cursing the torrential rain falling outside.

“I think I’ll wait here awhile and see if it lets up a little,” Bette said, avoiding the dance floor and sitting back on the couch. Everyone else joined her, but after less than a minute Dana stood up.

“Come outside with me, Al,” she said, extending her hand to help Alice up. All she got in return was a look that told her in no in certain terms that Alice wouldn’t be opposed to sending her to a mental hospital, but Dana persisted.

“Dane, come on, we’ll get wet,” Alice protested, and Dana smiled as she leaned in close to Alice’s ear.

“I think we accomplished that earlier…but if rain has the same effect on you that it does on me, we might be able to arrange something later.” Alice grinned at her and shook her head. “No, I just…come on, I want to tell you something.

“Fine,” Alice muttered, shrugging at the rest of their friends and following her girlfriend out into the driving rain, where she was pulled into a slow dance position, Dana’s forehead lightly resting against hers as the rain poured down on them. She started to sway slowly, and Alice, while she thought it odd, danced along with her.

“I just wanted to tell you that through all of the stuff that happened with the cancer, you were the only thing that ever made sense to me,” Dana said quietly as they danced. “You’re the reason I got through it, Alice.”

“No I’m not. You got through it because you’re strong, Dana. And you had really good doctors and top of the line medication and treatments and stuff. That saved your life, not me,” Alice replied, touched by the words but not wanting Dana to discount her own efforts and those of her medical team.

    1. *I bow to thee* Thank you for keeping your promise and for this wonderful update. I didn’t expect Alice’s failure in cooking would result inthis hot little scene. I was nicely suprised. :D And the part in the rain, one word….awww!! I can never get enough of these two together. Btw, nice reference to the dream-theory (of S3 being a dream and Dana would still be alive).

    2. First it got freakin’ hot, and then ended too freakin’ cute. I really liked all aspects of this chapter. Intensity, sweetness, honesty, spirituality and romance. Some portions seemed to border on thoughts that I have had, lol. Well done my friend, well done!!! Ok the stir fry was way overdone, but hell, what results! hehe

    3. I loved the way Shane ran out and told Danish to get in out the rain….Kit was like the mummy and Shane, Al and Dana the kids, hehe. I loved this chapter it was worth the wait :). Btw just to let you know when I have a fit I call it “doing the huck-a-buck”, dunno why but hey its all good. PPS

    4. I’m just gonna have to quit wearing my glasses when I read this story, MutedT. You went and fogged them up again! :) I like the effect that sweaty Dana has on Alice. Thanks very much for all your creative effort. I have to say that I much prefer the alternate Danish reality of your furtive imagination to the bad dream that was S4. I’m looking forward to the new opportunities Danish will have now that Dana is done with her treatments. Good job! Thanks for the update.

    5. There is something about dancing in the rain, I dunno, but I love it. And I liked it here as well. And I had to laugh at the image of Ruth and Tasha, hee. Lovely update!
