    Computer talk, dreams, kids, jewelry, and Drs. Fairbanks and McCutcheon try to solve Patient Pieszecki’s dilemma. (AlShaDane, because I needed some). *Please see the note at the end, too, if you have time. It’d mean a lot.*

    The next day, Dana was up and out of the apartment by 5:30. She was pleasantly surprised to find Max outside waiting for her. She hadn’t had the heart to wake Alice up again, so she’d been planning to go alone. It was a lot easier to walk when she had someone to talk to, though. Before she really knew what she was doing, she gave Max a spontaneous hug. He looked surprised, but returned it.

    “Sorry I didn’t call; I figured it was probably too early. Shane mentioned last night that you were going to start walking again. I figured you might like some company, but if you’d rather be alone I can go home,” he said uncertainly, looking at the ground rather than at Dana.

    “What, are you kidding? No, thanks for coming over. To be honest I kinda get bored on my walks when there’s nobody with me. I guess I spent so many years running that I got used to doing that, you know? It’s almost impossible to hold a conversation when you’re running hard anyway, but walking’s different. Really, I’m glad you’re here. There’s no way I could make Alice get up this early anyway. She’d tell me to fuck off because it’s the weekend.”

    “Yeah, I can imagine,” Max replied, laughing. “If you want, I can start coming over before work in the mornings and we can go. Anytime before seven, I try to get to my office by 7:30 so I get a jump start on my projects.”

    “How’s that going?” Dana asked gently as they started down the street. She’d barely gone ten feet when she started to feel the effect of the cardio weight she was carrying. Shrugging it off as a sign of progress, she shifted it a little and kept walking.

    “It’s tough to say. I’m not sure if you know this, but I’ve been on a few dates with my boss’ daughter.” He stopped when Dana shot him a look. “I know, all right? It’s a bad situation to put myself into, and it would be even if I wasn’t transitioning. But he seemed to really like the idea, so I’m sort of afraid of bad blood if I call it off.”

    “Well, if you don’t, there’ll probably be some bad blood anyway. Look, Max, I’m not saying you should rent a billboard announcing it to the world, but this girl’s dating you under the impression that you’re a guy. I know you feel that way inside, but anatomy sort of disagrees with you on that right now. I know it’s a lot easier said than done, but I think you have to figure out a way to tell her. Otherwise, you’re pretty much just lying to her,” Dana said, and instantly felt bad about it.

    1. Yay, I do believe I’m first! I totally always thought Erin Daniels had a Sheryl Crow-esque look to her, but I thought I was the only one. I loved this update, it was really adorable and so well written. And yeah, I shuddered at the thought of them listening to Mariah Carey.

    3. Alice’s lack of sense of reality is a bit unsettling, but understandable. But getting AlShaDane back together is way cool. Dana eating the rest of the pizza was funny after she told Alice not to buy all garbage at the grocery store, haha. The Ari storyline is growing on me, as it shows Dana’s strength and compassion. Yet I don’t get the backlash against Mariah. I for one felt that for once Dana should get the entertainment of her choice. Circles, twas a nice touch!

Alright, I’m a lurker and never posted because frankly I have too many website accounts and will lose track.But after reading the note at the bottom of this chapter I was forced to sign up just to beg you to somehow continue it.I check for updates pretty much every second day, which sounds creepy but it just shows how much I love this story. I refuse to watch L word after our beloved little ms fairbanks was taken from us and aside from watching season 1 and 2 over and over again this gives me something to actually look foward to. This is the only way danish love continues for me, and to have it taken away again would be toooo tragic. So if you need to end it, do so. But I’m praying you keep going because I don’t know where else to turn to for danish satisfaction.

    5. I love your writing and really enjoy this story. There has never been a bad chapter (I should know — when you posted the latest, I went back and re-read the whole thing). I hope you continue.
