    Young Love: Chapter Seventeen

Dana sat at the dinner table with her family, and she poked around her food. Sharon took a drink of her wine and looked over at her daughter.

    “What’s wrong sweetie?”

“Mmmm?” Dana looked up and sighed heavily. “Oh—nothing. I’m just tired. With practice and all.” She finally took a bite of her food.

“So have you found a dress yet for homecoming?” Sharon smiled softly.

Dana shook her head. “No, I haven’t had the time to.” She smiled faintly.

“Well why don’t we have a mother and daughter day this weekend? We’ll go and find you a beautiful dress.”

    “Sure,” Dana nodded.

“So how’s practice?” Irwin looked at his daughter.

“All right I guess. Nothing new.” She took a drink of her soda.

“Well I got a B on my math test.” Howie spoke up.

“When’s your next match?” Irwin brought his fork to his mouth, and Howie sat back in his seat, and Dana looked at her brother.

“Dad—Howie just said that he got a B on his math test.” Howie smiled at his sister.

“I’m sorry Howie, that’s great son.” He smiled at his son.

    “Thanks dad.”

Sharon nodded in argument. “That’s really good Howie.”

“Thanks,” he smiled and looked at Dana. Dana smiled at her brother and winked.

“Dana—your mother and I have been talking, and we think that you should be ungrounded.”

“Really? It’s only been a week.”

“Yes—I was really out of line with you, and I’m sorry darling.” Sharon smiled softly.

“It’s okay mom.” Dana nodded, and the family continued to have their dinner in silence.

Shane pulled in front of Carmen mom’s house in East LA. She sighed heavily and hopped out of the car. She jogged over to Carmen’s side and opened the door. Carmen grinned at Shane and grabbed Shane’s hand.

“Thanks babe,” Shane closed the door.

“You’re welcome,” Carmen looked at Shane and exhaled.

“Are you ready to meet my wild family?”

“I’m ready,” Shane nodded, and Carmen kissed her cheek.

“Let’s go.” The two girls walked up to the house and up the steps. Carmen raised her hand and knocked on the door.  The door swung open, and Carmen’s mom beamed and opened her arms.

    1. great chapter! i wonder what sharon is up to…i mean she has got to have an ulterior motive in letting dana off the hook…that mom/daughter day is going to be interesting…PPS

    2. Aki I first want to congratulate you on your win, well deserved!!!! now I am really liking Bette and Helena they really seem to have fallen on love with each other, but what is the deal w/tina, don’t like her asking her to be friends with Bette,,kinda scary. and as for Al and Dana they are too cute and Shane and Carmen sexy too!!

    3. hehe, way to go, teaching us old folks about those damned short forms. i have no idea how to work those things. i know i can put 2 instead of too, but its just so wierd to read it. very instructive. :) bette and tina had best not be gettin’ it on there luv. lol. pps

    4. hey congats on your win! another great update. As old enough to someone who remembers the six million dollar man, I find the lee references by lenore amusing since she always about name drooping from her past and he was HUGE in the 80’s so of course she is all over him (next will most likely be “the Burt”

    5. AKcb, I just wanted to come in and offer a BIG Congratulations to you on winning your award!!! Way to go girl, and keep the stories coming. Stay inspired, get the groove on, and keep the readers happy! :- )

    6. Congratulations Akira! I am so happy for you. Although I have not yet read “Another Chance,” seeing what you did with this story so far, I am sure you deserve it. Enjoy your DVD set and go out and celebrate. But please do not forget to continue this story. You are the only writer who wrote Danish in the last 3 days aside from fripster. I am getting a little worry again. Thank you for the apology from Mrs. F. I felt a little bit better. Another great update! Let’s see how B would deal with T. Thank you & Congrats again.
