MIDSEASON: FOX only have two new shows that are coming during the midseason, “The Following” (on Mondays) and “The Goodwin Games” (on Tuesdays).

“The Following” – new thriller from executive producer Kevin Williamson (“The Vampire Diaries”). When notorious serious killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy, “Rome”) escaped from death row, the FBI calls former agent Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) to consult because he was responsible for Carroll’s capture nine years ago. Hardy knows everything about Carroll but he’s wounded both physically and mentally because of that case. He’s working with an FBI team which includes Jennifer Mason (Jeananne Goossen, “Alcatraz”) and Mike Weston (Shawn Ashmore, “X-Men”). Hardy uncovers that Carroll was communicating with a network of killers and planning much more than just a prison escape. Also starring Natalie Zea (“Justified) and newcomer Kyle Catlett.

“The Goodwin Games” – a new family comedy from producers of “How I Met Your Mother” and starring Scott Foley (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Becki Newton (“Ugly Betty”) and Jake Lacy (“Better With You”). It tells the story of three estranged siblings who return home after the loss of their beloved father (guest star Beau Bridges), and unexpectedly find themselves poised to inherit more than 20 million dollars, if they adhere to their late father’s wishes. If any of the Goodwin kids feel like they deserve the money, then it’s Henry (Scott Foley), the eldest child and an overachieving surgeon. He sees himself as a role model for his less successful siblings. Middle sibling Chloe (Becki Newton) was a child prodigy in math, and her unofficial role as “the smart one” of the family still sends Henry into fits of jealousy. The youngest, Jimmy (Jake Lacy), could use the inheritance the most as a small-time ex-con and dull-witted guitarist who’s deep in debt to a loan shark. Their father has left behind a series of unique challenges administered by his estate attorney April (newcomer Melissa Tang). Through these tasks, Benjamin hopes he can get his children to rediscover their true selves and learn the lessons he failed to instill in them while he was alive.
