When we both were in the 9^th grade, we got our first guitars and learned to play it by ourselves. And ever since that time we were fascinated and inspired by people who take a guitar in their hands or put their fingers on the piano keys and create beautiful and memorable music.

How often do we think of ourselves as being an inspiration to someone? Do we all have someone who inspires us? Everyone around us could be an inspiration. A friend who year after year leaves the comfort of her home and family to go with Doctors Without Borders to remote and often dangerous places to help with this organization disaster relief efforts; an artist whose art and imagination brings people together; or an actress who spends a lot of her free time as an activist and supporter of various important causes.

Today we want to talk about a few female musicians from the past and the present who are an inspiration to us and many other people. The inspirational musicians from earlier years of rock music are the names that everyone knows and admires: Stevie Nicks, Pat Benatar, and Joan Jett.
