The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 26

    Previously on Saturday…

Bette’s eyes were wide. “Really? Tina sent in the glam brigade?”

Caleb Durand smiled. “And what a brigade it is. We’re some of the best in the business.”

    “I – – – I don’t know what to say.”

“Just say that you’ll try on this dress and these shoes. I’ve got my tape measure and pins to mark any alterations.”

    Bette nodded. “Okay.”

    * * *

Bette called Tina and sat back in her chair, waiting for her wonder-woman to pick up.

    “Hey Bette,” said Tina.

“Caleb the fabulous was just here with this amazing black and white evening gown. I’m eating a sandwich courtesy of your generosity and I’m sitting down in my office, wondering what I did for you to spoil me like this.”

Tina chuckled. “Excellent. Everything is going according to plan.”

“You don’t need to buy me, T.”

    “No, this isn’t about that.”

    “Then what is it about?”

“Letting someone take care of you. I can’t be there with you physically, but I can damned sure provide support and sustenance.”

    “Shit, Tina.”

“I care about you. I can’t take away all your worries. But I can take away a few of them. Just let me do this. Let me be there for you.”

Bette was quiet. “Okay, T. Thank you…for everything. I can’t thank you enough. My staff thank you too.”

Bette’s thanks warmed Tina’s insides. She smiled to no one and closed her eyes, savoring the feel of Bette’s voice.

    “You are more than welcome.”

On Saturday night, Bette was so tired that she ended up falling asleep in her office on the couch. She dragged herself home in the morning only to shower, change, eat a bowl of cereal and return to work. Work made it easy to put thoughts of Sidney out of her mind.

She had done the best she could by her wife. Sidney was in a great treatment facility getting all the help she needed. The violent altercation between them was something Bette intentionally pushed away. The thoughts tried to resurface in her dreams and sometimes, even when she delicately wiped herself after using the bathroom.

    1. Thank you for chapter!

Alice tell Bette a few right thing about Tina, but i wish that she put her energy on her relationship and let Bette be mature person.
Bette realy needs to grow up and start thinking her own head and not always listen Alice.
Shane drugdealer – i like this twist. But Tina attended hairdressing salon too – she also addict? No it coldn’t be, right?

    2. As much as Alice is right about Bette not knowing enough about Tina, I still hope that Bette will follow her heart and instincts and keep her trust in Tina. Don’t let Alice put doubts in her mind, don’t let Bette end it with Tina. She should remember that in her former life (like the sound of that ;-)) she and Tina were always at their best when they were near each other and talked about their fears and problems. Together they would find a way to handle every obstacle.

Tina is not malicious but insecure. It will be hard for Bette to learn that T is married. But she should give Tina the chance to open up, to talk about her life, about her manipulative and narrow-minded family and about her deep feelings for Bette. It’s all new for Tina but hopefully she’ll take a first step and divorces Henry before Bette even learns about the marriage. She should do it for herself, she deserves to live her life how she wants to not how others expect her to.

Thanks for posting, looking forward to more.
