The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 26

Bette nodded. “I called just to check on her again yesterday.”

    “You did?”

“I did. I am so filled with anger at her. But I know that she’s still my responsibility. I need to make sure she’s okay.”

Alice swallowed. “I’d gladly help you with that.”

Bette shook her head. “No, Sweetie. You did the heavy lifting. Now it’s my turn. But I thank you all the same.”

Alice tilted her head, studying her friend. “You seem better. More like yourself.”

    “I feel more like myself.”

“Wait a minute,” said Alice. “Your bandages are all gone. Let me take a look at you.”

Bette smiled. “Looks a lot better, right? I’m glad I listened to you. I guess I did need those stitches. I took the last of the bandaid strips off this morning.”

Alice gingerly felt along the line of Bette’s healing laceration. “It looks great. Does it hurt?”

“No, not at all. No more swelling. I can probably cover it up with makeup now. You won’t be able to see it.”

    “That’s good news, Bette.”

“I know. It feels good to be moving forward.”

    Alice smiled at her.

“Al, is there something wrong? You never stop by anymore. Did you just want to bring us takeout from The Planet?”

Alice nodded. “Yes, that. And I wanted to ask you something.”

Bette’s voice was quiet, her brow furrowed in confusion. “Ask me what?”

“When did you meet Tina?” asked Alice. She had been having memory flashbacks to the day Bette returned from New York and Alice had picked her up at LAX. Her friend had been disoriented and yelling for Tina and Dana. Alice hadn’t known Tina existed then. She’d gotten Bette to chill out and get into the car with her. But even when they drove away, Bette had asked about a woman named Tina.

Bette grinned. “That’s what you wanted to ask me?”

    “Yes. Humor me.”

“I told you. I met her at Shane’s salon. It was the Friday after I came back from New York. She literally ran into me on the sidewalk in front of the place.”

“Shane’s salon?” asked Alice. She remembered the false-bottom container from Sidney’s loft. She remembered the drugs in the container.

    1. Thank you for chapter!

Alice tell Bette a few right thing about Tina, but i wish that she put her energy on her relationship and let Bette be mature person.
Bette realy needs to grow up and start thinking her own head and not always listen Alice.
Shane drugdealer – i like this twist. But Tina attended hairdressing salon too – she also addict? No it coldn’t be, right?

    2. As much as Alice is right about Bette not knowing enough about Tina, I still hope that Bette will follow her heart and instincts and keep her trust in Tina. Don’t let Alice put doubts in her mind, don’t let Bette end it with Tina. She should remember that in her former life (like the sound of that ;-)) she and Tina were always at their best when they were near each other and talked about their fears and problems. Together they would find a way to handle every obstacle.

Tina is not malicious but insecure. It will be hard for Bette to learn that T is married. But she should give Tina the chance to open up, to talk about her life, about her manipulative and narrow-minded family and about her deep feelings for Bette. It’s all new for Tina but hopefully she’ll take a first step and divorces Henry before Bette even learns about the marriage. She should do it for herself, she deserves to live her life how she wants to not how others expect her to.

Thanks for posting, looking forward to more.
