    Spencer and Ashley clear up a misunderstanding. Someone new enters the picture for a very confused Spencer and makes Aiden consider playing for the other team even more.

    “What are you doing here?” Ashley asked as she saw Spencer standing by her locker.

    Spencer had been there for the last fifteen minutes, waiting for Ashley to fill her in on what she was so upset about. Ashley had never hung up on her, and no matter how insignificant that would seem to other people, it mattered to Spencer. It meant that Ashley was seriously upset about something and she wanted to get to the bottom of the issue as soon as possible so they could go back to being the happy Ashley/Spencer that they had managed to be for all of an hour since they had begun dating.

    “I’m waiting for you,” she replied, unable to control her impulse to reach out and run her fingers through stray locks of Ashley’s hair.

    “I can see that, Spence. But why?”

    “Because you’re obviously really upset about something and I want to figure out what’s up.”

    “I thought you couldn’t talk to me right now,” Ashley said, her eyes cautiously meeting Spencer’s concerned ones.

    “Why would you think that?”

    “Because you told your mom to call me…and she said that you didn’t want to talk to me anymore.”

    “Ashley, Ashley, Ashley…”Spencer replied, a relieved grin on her face.

    “What?!” Ashley replied defensively.

    “And you believed her? Does that even sound like something I would do? Have my mom call you to tell you I can’t talk to you? I’m not a fourth grader, ok? Even if I didn’t want to talk to you, which I do, I would never send my mom to do the job.”

    “I’m so fucking embarrassed right now,” Ashley said, her hands covering her face immediately.

    “Hey,” Spencer said, grabbing Ashley’s hands and holding them in her own, “my mom can be very convincing. I can’t believe she would do that.”

    “Yeah, she must really hate me.”

    Spencer shook her head slightly, her mind attempting to wrap itself around Paula’s plot to keep Ashley away from her.

    “Well, believe it or not, I’m going to try not to be late to class today,” Ashley said, interrupting her thoughts.

    “They’re threatening you with detention aren’t they?” Spencer asked knowingly.

    “Spence! No!” the brunette exclaimed dramatically, “ok, you’re right. They totally are.”

    “Knew it.”
