    Spencer and Ashley clear up a misunderstanding. Someone new enters the picture for a very confused Spencer and makes Aiden consider playing for the other team even more.

    “Either way, I gotta go…so you and me…we’re cool, right?”

    “Yeah, if you promise to use your anytime minutes for me instead of my mom.”

    “Deal, see ya,” Ashley said as she walked towards her first period class.

    Spencer smiled as she watched her girlfriend, amazed at how quickly their relationship could change in a matter of minutes.

    “Hey, can you tell me how to get to the science building?”

    Spencer turned around to find a small blonde standing beside her. Her hair was styled in a purposely messy pixie cut and her clothes could only be the inspiration of a thrift shop, and on her, they looked amazing.

    “Uh, yeah. Go right down there,” Spencer said pointing to a building in the distance, “and what class are you looking for?”

    “Bio.”

    “Bio? With Mr. Tucker?”

    “Ummm….” the girl said, studying the piece of paper she was holding, “yeah. Tucker is right.”

    “That means we’re going to the same place.”

    “Awesome. I’m so relieved! I hate walking in these crowded classrooms and being the new girl. It’s so mortifying.”

    “I couldn’t agree more.”

    “Thank God for my addiction to prescription drugs, right?” the girl said, her face serious.

    Spencer said nothing.

    “Just a joke. You guys joke in LA or just tan?”

    Spencer laughed, relieved, “Yeah, we do a little bit of joking…you know, when we’re not sacrificing our bodies to the sun gods.”

    “I’m Lindsay,” the girl said, extending her hand and flashing a smile that would melt anyone with eyes.

    “I’m Spencer. It’s very nice to meet you.”

    “So I guess we’re off to class then, right?”

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

    Ashley was sitting in the grass waiting for Spencer to join her for lunch. Aiden was lying beside her, his head resting on his backpack and his eyes closed to block out the rays of the beaming LA sun.

    “So you two are back on track, right?” he asked as Ashley popped open a bottled frappucino.

    “Yeah, we’re good.”

    “Don’t you get tired of that?”

    “Tired of what?”

    “Fighting all the time.”

    “Well, I mean…Spencer and I…you know….we….yeah, sometimes I do, actually,” Ashley admitted, “but I guess every relationship has its ups and downs. And at the end of the day, I just love her, you know?”
