    6 Months- chapter 2

Bette left the office and after getting in her car, headed for the house.  As she was driving, fighting the LA traffic, she thought about the proposal from Peggy.  She knew that she was seriously considering it.  Her work at the CAC had become stale and left her wanting for more.  She was done with the corporate politics, endless episodes of trying to convince both Franklin and the Board of projects and thought about what an effect a new experience such as that being offered by Peggy could bring to her.

As she parked her car in her driveway, she continued to mull over what going to New York would mean for her.  There was not only the part of leaving Tina, but also Kit and her friends.  Even though she was not spending much time with them any longer, she never considered leaving them an option.  Not only leaving her family and friends, but what would happen to the house, her car and all of the other pieces of her life that would be uprooted by a move across the country?

She went inside, changed her clothes and went outside to the pool.  She left her laptop inside as she wanted to do nothing but think about where she was in her life.  She knew that whatever her decision was, the impact of this choice would have a lasting effect on the rest of her life.

Bette thought back to the beginning of her relationship with Tina and how much she had fought to have Tina in her life.  She knew that once the fight was won and Tina was finally hers, they had both settled into a comfortable routine.  Bette had done much soul searching in the last six months to try and determine when and at what point things had started to deteriorate.  She knew that the loss of their child had had a tumultuous effect on both of them, but also knew that the unraveling had started before then.  She thought back to two years ago when both of their careers were taking on a life of their own.  She knew that they had stopped making time for each other, just assuming that they would be available for each other when they found that time to be together.  It was neither Bette nor Tina that was the driving factor in that matter; it just was what had become.
