Is everything ok? Jess told me that you werent well. I was going to call you.

I was. I am. I mean. I know youre on your way out but can we have a few minutes? This isnt going to take long. Bette looked at her watch and it didnt go unnoticed by Tina. If youre busy, we could talk tomorrow. Tina turned to leave before Bette could decide. Bette grabbed her by the arm.

No. Wait. Bette sighed. Look, Tina, about Friday. Im sorry if I did anything to offend you. Bette paused to gather her thoughts. She didnt want to be presumptuous yet she didnt want to trivialise what happed either. ***** it. She thought, then admitted, Look. I had a great time on Friday and it was not the alcohol and it was not the place nor the dance, ok maybe the dance had something to do with it a little but I like you and I couldnt stop thinking about you all weekend and I would love to see you again. I mean, if you want to. But I will be fine if you dont. In a week or two, maybe five. But I know theres something here. At least I felt something and I would love to find out what it is. And maybe who knows

After Bettes admission, there was a long period of silence. Tina was speechless. She was happy to know that she was not the only one feeling the way she did but it took a while for everything that Bette said to sink in. The silence made Bette nervous Ok, maybe that was not such a good idea. Tina still didnt say anything. She just kept her eyes fixed on Bette.

Eventually Tina said, Can we um go somewhere?

Bette looked at her watch again, and with regret she said, I have somewhere to be today.
